PJ Seattle sites to see?

So excited - I'm FINALLY getting to Seattle in mid-April! Any suggestions of "can't miss" sites to see, places to go, things to do, etc. for MAJOR PJ fan ? Will only be there for a couple days on a girls trip. Would love (along w/ every other PJ fan) to run into one of the boys while in Seattle - however unlikely that would be! Will just be happy to be there! Thanks!

if anything is going on at the tractor in ballard you should check it out. I lived a few blocks from there for a few years and saw some great little bands there. met matt cameron after he played a show. were maybe 10 people in the bar at the time.

also check out pike place market.

PJ SITES? Well there's El Corazon (used to be Off Ramp) if you want to see where they played their first show as Mookie Blaylock. Also The Showbox At The Market is a great venue and hosted a bunch of PJ shows over the years. And then the Moore Theater was where the Evenflow vid was filmed.
  • gotta go to Easy Street Records.
  • I dont know how much time you have to move around.. but you could go to Discovery Park and walk to the Lighthouse featured in the Hunger Strike video...

it will be worth every penny you save, trust me on that. easy street is a very cool indie cd shop. benny hall is a cool pj site to see. go see an m's game if they have a home game when you're out there. very good hot dogs and good beer. outfield seats are cheap.

Got just under a foot of snow here in Northern VA today. Whatever the weather in Seattle in April, I'll take it! :P
Almost forgot - thanks for all the "Seattle sites" info so far. Making my list right now.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Getting back to Emerald City myself in May. Weather should be slightly better . Figuring Seattle will be a great place to stop off after three days of Sasquatch.

-Check out the EMP (Experience Music Project) @ seattle center-next to the space needle Its pretty cool, they have exhibits guitar gallery, and "jam rooms" and other cool stuff. I'm not sure what they are doing right now but a while ago (two years maybe?) they had a Bob Dylan exhibit and apparently the man actually flew down himself to see it. :o:D8-)
    Shows:
    Seattle Key Arena 9-21-2009
    Seattle Key Arena 9-22-2009
  • the crocodile cafe may be a good spot if it has reopened by then.

if you go to easy street go to the one in west seattle (california and alaska). they have a cafe with a great menu for breakfast and lunch...you can hang out a bit...enjoy the vibe...and even put cds on your meal tab. one of my favorite places for weekend brunch.

not pj related, but definately check out pike's place market, seattle center, fremont troll and alki beach.

    enjoy your visit!!

there is 2 tho, so if you want to go to the one by Ed's house and where the show was played it is in West Seattle, not Queen Anne.

Its actually in Renton which is like a 10 minute drive south and sort of east of Seattle.

thanks so much for the Easy Street Records location tip. would have had no clue which one to go to, or that there were even 2 of them. definitely want to go to the West Seattle one. would love to have a general idea of where Eddie's house is - no creepy stalker issues, not to worry - would just like to see it or the area where he lives. thanks a bunch for the ideas!

i don't think your comments can be taken out of context, stating that you'd like to know where Ed's house is so you can see it pretty much sums it up,...

if i misunderstood then please correct me. if you'd love to have a general idea of where Ed's house is, well then the answer is simple: Seattle.

    ;)

My wife is from Seattle, so we make the trip out there every year. I think you'll still get some of the dreary weather, but come summer, it's got some of the best weather around.

Hendrix's grave is in Renton and I think its a bit of a pain to get to, or at least that's what my wife tells me - maybe she doesn't want to spend a day driving out there ;). A couple of non-PJ suggestions - go to Eliot Bay Bookstore on South Main Street - one of the top indy bookstores around (if you're into that type of thing), and drink a latte from Cafe Ladro (several around downtown). Best coffee I've had in a city that respects coffee.

    Have fun!

    100 Pacer,
No need for sarcasm. Please relax. It was just a comment. Yes, you did take it out of context by only quoting part of what I wrote. My kids were just curious if "Mom" would get to see where any of the PJ guys live while in Seattle.
It was completely innocent and certainly not intended to get someone, specifically you and only you, all upset or paranoid or whatever :? .
Now, I'm done justifying a simple sentence. Let's move on. BTW - thanks for the Seattle tip. :P

Hey - thanks a bunch for the ideas. Would like to visit Hendrix's grave but will probably be too short on time. The bookstore and Cafe Ladro sound great. Looking forward to it. :P

no need to get all defensive, i just found it highly amusing that someone would use the words "where is Ed's house? i would like to see it" and "no creepy stalker issues" in the same sentence, that's all

  • Hendrixs grave is not out of the way at all, you can drive there and back in 30-45 minutes.

n'ah, being a fan of PJ's music doesn't make you a stalker in my eyes, it's asking for Ed's home address that would haha (sorry, couldn't resist). yup, PJ fans one and all, although some of us choose to hunt down the address to Ed's house, while others give the band members the privacy they deserve.

in all seriousness, what's troubling is that in this day and age certain information is easily accessible and the last thing that's needed is some random fan thinking it would be OK to stroll down and visit Ed's house, to use the example previously discussed. hence, some idiot thinking your request was "harmless" and actually providing you with said information,...

wow, you are certainly persistent. what is up with you? i was trying to be nice and end things on a friendly note - guess you weren't up for that. what started out as a simple request for Seattle sites has become something unpleasant b/c of you. have you noticed that no one else has mentioned anything about this except you? you are the one who took it the wrong way and has turned this into something weird and obsessive. Lord knows i never said anything about "hunting him down", or not "giving the band members the privacy they deserve", or thinking it would be ok to "stroll down and visit Ed's house", etc. for whatever personal reason this has really struck a cord with you - seriously, i'm sorry for you getting so outraged by this. but now, i am getting defensive b/c i don't appreciate the personal attacks. time for you to back off and let it drop. you don't know me and thankfully we will never have to communicate again. never expected someone to have this kind of reaction. i don't want to waste any more time debating this with you. let it drop and be done with it! i truly, honestly hope you have a happy life. the end. done.

For wanting to drop it you sure put a lot of effort on your response... 100 Pacer only comments was really?! and you sparked the whole back and forth... you gotta admit though that making a comment that was clearly asking for someone to volunteer Ed's address on a message board won't go down real well....IMO of course...
  • almost forgot... you may want to swing by Kenyon Hall to see the site where Ed did his little solo gig last march. may not be able to go in, but it's a cute little place.
