not to rain on the parade because everyone seems to be loving this compilation, but i found it to be very disappointing. i'm a big fan of most of the musicians/bands on the album but it just didn't work for me. it has it's moments, i like the sharon jones song, mmj, the feelin good cover, and train song with feist off the top of my head, but for the most part it sounded like a collection of throw-away b-sides from a bunch of great artists.

I'm up to track 13 of the first disc so far. The only song I I felt like skipping was Yeasayer, which isn't surprising as I dislike their album.

So far my favorites are Feist w/ Ben Gibbard and the Decemberists track, and this Iron & Wine song is in fact quite beautiful.

Okay, I finally ordered this at the same time I pre-ordered Neko Case's new album one amazon.com, so it should hopefully show up sometime next week. Glad to see lots of people are enjoying it so much. I'm especially looking forward to Feist's contribution.

Same here. Got the Neko album in the mail but no Dark was the Night :( Next week hopefully.

hrm, i guess i might have to get the rest of this. the other day i searched itunes for anything bon iver and downloaded the track he has on this compilation without looking at the rest of it. i only really know Cat Power, MMJ and Bon Iver. is the rest of the music that kind of folkie/indie genre? i've really been getting into that kind of music=p fleet foxes, bon iver and ray lamonsomethingsomething are amazing. anyone have any suggestions for bands that fit into that genre?
