I REALLY want this, but I spend too much money on music. Seriously, I have a problem.

    Let's see how long I make it before I push the "buy mp3 album with 1-Click" button on amazon.com . . .
  • Too bad the Iron and Wine song was only like a minute long. The rest of the compliation looks pretty good though.

Emusic.com has it. I get 75 downloads a month for 19.99. But no matter how you BUY, it's for a charity, it you need to get this. It is very good!
I’ve seen Pearl Jam 25 times, Eddie Vedder 9 times, and Brad once.

I'm already an emusic member, so I'm well aware of this. :)

Actually, I don't want to use up the majority of my downloads on one album, so I'm leaning toward amazon.com for this particular purchase. With so many tracks the price actually ends up being comparable between the two sites (if I'm not mistaken).

i was really sad that the iron and wine song is short...but it's a great little song :)

i'm going to drive my co-workers nuts by playing this all day again tomorrow...but i don't care! some of the songs will need time to grow on me...but all in all, one of the best compilation cds i own.

I'm loving this CD.. A great version of 'Lua'. I really love the tracks by the arcade fire, sufjan stevens, MMJ, Andrew bird and The National. It really is the best compilation out there I have ever heard. Pretty much EVERY indie band worth listening to is included on this CD. I recommend it to everyone!

"Tightrope" by Yeasayer is an awesome song, especially live. Really good band.

Gotten through some of it - 3 record vinyl set! I was really struck by The Decemberists' song. Beautiful. Also liked the one Grizzly Bear song I heard, which is a good sign, as usually I find them pretty lame. Nice different take on "The Giant of Illinois" by Andrew Bird. It was cool to get a new version I don't already have.

i just picked this up yesterday. one of the best compilations i've ever heard. go get this if you havent already. right now i'm lovin cello song by the books w/ jose gonzalez. nick drake cover.
  • I picked this album up on Tuesday and I think I've listened to it 3 or 4 times now. Only songs I don't like at all are Sufjan Stevens and Buck 65. Everything else is at least tolerable to me and that's pretty good for 31 songs from a very wide variety of bands.

Some of my favourites so far are So Far Around The Bend by The National; Hey, Snow White by The New Pornographers; Well Alright by Spoon; Brackett, WI by Bon Iver; Knotty Pine by The Dirty Projectors + David Byrne; and With A Girl Like You by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio.

Okay, I finally ordered this at the same time I pre-ordered Neko Case's new album one amazon.com, so it should hopefully show up sometime next week. Glad to see lots of people are enjoying it so much. I'm especially looking forward to Feist's contribution.

Because this whole album is great and I can't stop listening to it. Made a great soundtrack to my roadtrip yesterday.
The National's song is one of my favorites for sure.

I'm pretty jealous of anyone who's seen them live. For $10 that just makes me shake my head and wish I didn't live in the middle of the prairies.

I wish the Iron & Wine song was longer. I usually have to listen to it twice.

It's almost as bad in NY. Just try getting tickets to almost anyone on the album. I'm glad I got a few Andrew Bird shows in before the current tour.

I'm glad this album thread was bumped because it's such a great listen... Loving the whole thing. How good is the gentle hour by yo la tango... so so good.

not to rain on the parade because everyone seems to be loving this compilation, but i found it to be very disappointing. i'm a big fan of most of the musicians/bands on the album but it just didn't work for me. it has it's moments, i like the sharon jones song, mmj, the feelin good cover, and train song with feist off the top of my head, but for the most part it sounded like a collection of throw-away b-sides from a bunch of great artists.

I'm up to track 13 of the first disc so far. The only song I I felt like skipping was Yeasayer, which isn't surprising as I dislike their album.

So far my favorites are Feist w/ Ben Gibbard and the Decemberists track, and this Iron & Wine song is in fact quite beautiful.

Same here. Got the Neko album in the mail but no Dark was the Night :( Next week hopefully.

hrm, i guess i might have to get the rest of this. the other day i searched itunes for anything bon iver and downloaded the track he has on this compilation without looking at the rest of it. i only really know Cat Power, MMJ and Bon Iver. is the rest of the music that kind of folkie/indie genre? i've really been getting into that kind of music=p fleet foxes, bon iver and ray lamonsomethingsomething are amazing. anyone have any suggestions for bands that fit into that genre?
