He said on the show that paying off his contract is a tax writeoff for the company, so it benefits them to just let him go.rrivers wrote:I honestly don't understand why they would get rid of the show when they have to pay him (as he mentions on Simmons' podcast). If they bring someone else in then they are out even more money and if they just play music they might as well have the guy coming in who they are paying.
Thanks, that does make sense."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -
Good news, everyone! He's doing an uncensored private podcast for free. He's very nervous in the first one but I'm sure it'll pass.

Haven't heard it yet, but what's to be nervous about? Seems like having a radio show broadcast to millions of people would be more nerve racking to me.So Much Clearer wrote:Good news, everyone! Yeah, you'd think so but I think he's nervous because he doesn't really feel like the recording is working (he keeps stopping to ask Cioffi if there's feedback) and he might also be unsure of how successful this podcast will be.I'll wait for an angel, but won't hold my breath0

I listened to yesterday's, not bad for a first attempt. So Much Clearer wrote:Yeah, you'd think so but I think he's nervous because he doesn't really feel like the recording is working (he keeps stopping to ask Cioffi if there's feedback) and he might also be unsure of how successful this podcast will be.0 -
I stopped listening to radio like Carolla and Lyikis when they had a half hour of commercials in an hour of programming.
I love sirius radio and listen to stern regularly!0 -
I'm going to really miss listening to Adam, Theresa and Brian on my morning commute. It was such a great way to start my day and made the drive (45 minutes +) to work much more enjoyable. Now what am I supposed to do? Hopefully, the crew will find a way to stay together and keep the show going. I miss you already.0

All four of those people could have drowned in olive oil and it would not have changed my life one bit. I had the same revelation with the presets in my car the other day. I had to shift all of them down one button and find a new station to preset. Tragic.norm wrote:....leykis sucks but frosty, heidi and frank were entertaining

The frequencies in my truck, that was my sisters also back in the day...so it's been around for a while, a bit of a family traveller, are still programmed to 105.5, 100.3, 107.1, 95.5, 106.7 and 97.1. I'm rocking old school radio in that bad boy.

Y107 I believe...I can't believe that's been over 10 years ago...seems just like yesterday.
And 100.3...wasn't that Pirate Radio? I think it was, could be wrong though. I was still a young pirate when that was around. Oh and on the second set of dials, we can add 103.1 to the defunct list. And then I had some other stuff, I think just the oldies stations. 101.1 and 99.9. Those are still there though.0 -
I don't think quoting you both is gonna work like this but Y107 is correct!!! You know, the first song they played as that format was Alive, cool, huh? 100.3 was Pirate Radio, indeed. Shadow Stevens and, I think, Rikki Rachtman were on that station. KNAC was a little before my time but I see their bumper stickers on the back of every late 80's Toyota pickup with pool cleaning supplies in the back.Evil Merlin Part Deux wrote:norm wrote:

Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.0 -
100.3 is The Sound and they have billboards everywhere advertising what song they're playing... I've seen Jeremy on them a couple of times.Post edited by so-much-clearer onI'll wait for an angel, but won't hold my breath0

it's a really great station...too bad it won't last very long0 -
The new podcasts from Carolla are great! He is still in the early stages of figuring out the technology and the new medium, so I only expect it to get better as time goes on. He broke some podcast download records (over 600K w/ Dameshek and the latest with Seth McFarlane will probably eclipse that). Not bad from someone with zero ad and everything out of his own pocket.
Adam always used to claim that he would broadcast for free because that was his passion. It's nice to see someone follow through and put their money where their mouth is.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0 -
Andy Chandling is on that station. I still fondly remember him introducing our band at a Y107 function at The Whisky back in 1997. It's great. I have it on video somewhere. So Much Clearer wrote:100.3 is The Sound and they have billboards everywhere advertising what song they're playing... I've seen Jeremy on them a couple of times.
I have the same feeling. It's very bare bones. No annoying bumpers or ID tags between the DJ talking and the music. About the only thing foreign to that station is the commercials. I agree, though, that it will not last long. :x :xnorm wrote:it's a really great station...too bad it won't last very long
I've been meaning to check his stuff out. And speaking of checking things out. Check out my band's podcast, at http://dfcast.blogspot.comJason P wrote:The new podcasts from Carolla are great!
