  • Me too. I listened to Loveline for years but stopped when he left, and then I only recently found out you could podcast his morning show. And now it's gone. :(

As if we need another KIIS.

Such a good show it was.
Very smart, always good discussion...oh well. :(
I'm definitely going to miss his rants. :D

I listened today and he said that he has some stuff lined up, but just couldn't talk about them at this point.

I'm also going to miss Teresa. She was the perfect person to have with Adam.

Hubby and I listened to this show on our 45 minute commute each morning - for about three years...and now it's gone...I understand that The End will be playing Best of's for a couple of weeks until the get something together. Personally, I think CBC made A HUGE mistake and left an awful lot of radio stations in the lurch...

    Oh well...it sucks...Top 40 sucks...

I worked at a radio station that laid off a whole bunch of people at once (highest rated jocks, etc included) and those were horrible days to go to work. It also got to the point you had to read the memo of laid off people posted everyday to see if you'd be working that day.... Like, if your name wasn't on the list, you were safe for the day...I've seen a lot of people suddenly not have their careers anymore and it's really really shitty...

Cheers Adam, Teresa (and new baby-to-be), and Bald Brian....!

It's just so bazaar how this happened despite their amazing ratings. Is it because Adam's show (Adam, T, and Bald Brian) cost too much?

It's funny, I was never a Adam Carolla fan until I started listening to his show. I always though he was a dick, then I started listening (here in AZ, the Adam Carolla show took over for another awesome morning show who got the axe for Ace). Became a fan in no-time flat.

the ratings of his show in la were it's doom....the entire station went to top 40 jackoff music....they fired all they're on air staff....it constantly amazes me the brain dead scum that runs radio in this country

No, it's because 97.1 had low ratings overall and they wanted to create a competitor to KIIS, so it was between that station and Jackfm, which had higher overall ratings. http://www.rbr.com/radio/12914.html

Adam's not really a Top 40 morning show kind of host so I'm sure he couldn't be kept on after the flip.

Adam himself said, it's a business decision and he doesn't have hard feelings for it. But he'll still be podcasting!

I just don't get that. He was no. 1 in regions outside of LA (In Las Vegas for example). I realize he was on a local station in LA, but don't the affiliations bring in a good deal of money to that very station that pays him the big $? I know here in Phoenix he was doing really well too.

The fact is, there is no justification for them to pull the plug other than the $ the station gets in pulling the plug for pop culture bullshit.

Adam also admitted today that he has things lined up. Hmmm...wonder if those others that signed him knew of his "poor" radio ratings.

Either way, I'll miss him in the AM.

I didn't really listen to his show, but the little I heard I liked. I was like another poster said in that I thought he was a dick, but hearing him on Stern (the reason I didn't listen to him) he seemed like a good guy. You should check espn.com because Bill Simmons had him on a podcast yesterday and it was entertaining.

  • Arghh, just when I thought I was getting over it I log in and see this thread. Dude, what a pisser. I now have to make a decision of whether I listen to JackFM or K&B in the morning. A choice I am not looking forward to making.

    Farewell, Adam

    Get it on!!!

Carolla was on Bill Simmons' podcast on Friday and said he would be doing his own podcast on his website adamcorolla.com. Never listened to his radio show, but always thought he was really funny.

Another Simmons' fan! I recently started listening to his podcasts and really enjoy them. I have been reading his column for awhile but stayed away from the podcasts for some reason. The one with Chris Connolly about the Oscars was really good.

I always thought Adam was fairly funny, and as mentioned above...kinda thought he was a dickhead before I started listening to him.

I think why I didn't like him before was because when I saw him, he was either on The Man Show or Loveline. Both made him look like a prick. But I think that was "the bit". I started listening to him on his show and was really surprised. He's a bright guy who put on a pretty smart show. It's just a sign of the economic and intellectual times now that his show is off. It's really too bad.

I honestly don't understand why they would get rid of the show when they have to pay him (as he mentions on Simmons' podcast). If they bring someone else in then they are out even more money and if they just play music they might as well have the guy coming in who they are paying.

He said on the show that paying off his contract is a tax writeoff for the company, so it benefits them to just let him go.

So here in Phoenix, they are playing "The Best of the Adam Carolla Show".

I wonder how long that will last...

Were they playing pop music? Is 97.1 normally a decent station?

back in like 1987 the started as a classic rock station (KLSX ;) ) and then in 1991 howard started on the station...in a couple years they decided to go all talk...i think kato kalin and cindy brady were some of their early hosts  eventually they settled on a good lineup....howard, "frosty, heidi and frank" and tom leykis  ....leykis sucks but frosty, heidi and frank were entertaining :)

It was FM Talk, now it's top 40.

    Thanks, that does make sense.

  • Good news, everyone! He's doing an uncensored private podcast for free. He's very nervous in the first one but I'm sure it'll pass.

Haven't heard it yet, but what's to be nervous about? Seems like having a radio show broadcast to millions of people would be more nerve racking to me.
  • Yeah, you'd think so but I think he's nervous because he doesn't really feel like the recording is working (he keeps stopping to ask Cioffi if there's feedback) and he might also be unsure of how successful this podcast will be.

I listened to yesterday's, not bad for a first attempt.
  • I stopped listening to radio like Carolla and Lyikis when they had a half hour of commercials in an hour of programming.

I love sirius radio and listen to stern regularly!

I'm going to really miss listening to Adam, Theresa and Brian on my morning commute. It was such a great way to start my day and made the drive (45 minutes +) to work much more enjoyable. Now what am I supposed to do? Hopefully, the crew will find a way to stay together and keep the show going. I miss you already.

All four of those people could have drowned in olive oil and it would not have changed my life one bit. I had the same revelation with the presets in my car the other day. I had to shift all of them down one button and find a new station to preset. Tragic.

 The frequencies in my truck, that was my sisters also back in the day...so it's been around for a while, a bit of a family traveller, are still programmed to 105.5, 100.3, 107.1, 95.5, 106.7 and 97.1. I'm rocking old school radio in that bad boy.
