*I nearly died last year on the highway because I fell asleep on the wheel coming back from Boston after the Mansfield II show. Ran into the guard rail badly. Luckily there was no other vehicles on the road.

I ran over a bird coming home... my reaction time was so bad... but luckily we stopped in a parking lot and slept for an hour before I drove the other 7 hours home!
I had to drop someone off at his hotel and it took us til 3AM to find our way around Foxborough. He offer me to rest at his room but I didn't- had to work that after noon.
By the time I got home, it was nearly 7AM .
I had to take a friend home for a job she was starting the next morning... she's in newark NJ... I dropped her off at 7am and had 3 hours more to drive home... I barely remember the drive :?

Oh man, the shit we(the fans) go through for this band! You can kinda laugh at it now but I'll be more prepared the next go around.

yes!! I refuse to drive after a show like that again... unless I'm headed to another show

jeez... you all drive some pretty new cars... dunno how you can afford it!
I currently drive a '96 Seat Ibiza, but I'm getting a '99 Mazda MX5 at the weekend. Hooray
id the same jaw-floor reaction! they have it right in the US dont they? and gwan you with ur MX5! theyre class. my family had one and never gave any grief, was also a LOT of fun to drive.
just goes to show how fucking expensive cars are here doesnt it? outrageous, it costs almost half of what it costs here between tax, insurance, petrol, and actual price. i assume ur under 25 and get caught with insurance crap too for good cars? ugh.
Im the proud driver of a 94 Mitsubish wagon, its huge, even when has problems it just keeps going and going and going. can use it as a van for work, can thrash it and not care for nixer work, and can sleep in it at festivals. and for normal use. its really comfortable and good driver. great engine and very fast for a big car too. Itll be hard to find a replacement that i love as much and treat as badly!

I am under 25, but I'm a female driver getting half price insurance cos I work for an insurance company - Hence the purchase of a 2 seater cabriolet! The tax will be more expensive, lucky I opted for the 1.6 and not 1.8.

ahhh insider benefits! nice and the tax is worth it anyways for a good car! *touches wood*
Sharing my wife's mazda 626. Looking to purchase a subaru wrx this week. I already own a 04 wrx but I drove it out to Colorado and left it at my condo in the mountains. Love the turbo ( b/c of thin air, much better) on the open roads in the mountains. Also will look at the forester.
I had an '03 Subaru WRX. I got rid of it two years ago for a '03 Toyota Matrix.
Man, do I miss that Subaru -- it was awesome, cheap, and got decent gas mileage when you didnt hit that 'zone'.
The Matrix is great too though.. better gas mileage, and i can fit two surfboards inside. damn, it's slow though.

anything else too add about the Matrix? i'm thinking of trading in my 2003 Rodeo for a newer model Matrix. my Rodeo eats gas like a madman. thanks in advance!
A 2000 Honda CR-V. Bought it new the week the model came out and now 9 years later, I still love it. Low maintenance, good on gas, and I've never had any issues with it. Plus, it's great to be able to put money into the bank instead of making a car payment every month. I think I'll hit 75,000 miles this month, so I plan on getting quite a few more years out of it.
I also love the color, I can always spot it easily in a parking lot.
A 1994 Ford Escort Station Wagon.
It's teal.
:(
It's also cracked, rusty, and covered in dents from being crashed into just about everything imaginable at some point. 2/5 seat belts still work. The speedometer hasn't worked for at least six years.
It's name is Gremmie.
the 1st car i ever bought, back in '98, was a '93 Ford Escort LX 2-door hatchback. i drove it for 5 years and kept it in immaculate condition at which point i handed it over to my brother. the car has now done ~235,000 KM/147,000 Miles and is running on the original engine and transmission without a single issue,...i swear to God the car was blessed on the production line. still, it hurts to see the spots of rust on the body, and the shear marks and dents on the passenger's side doors which were the result of my brother hitting a parked cab (and fleeing afterwards),...
1998 Camry XL. 120K+ miles on her, the exterior looks like shit*, the timeclock is pushed into the socket but she's still running fine! My first and only vehicle thus far.
*I nearly died last year on the highway because I fell asleep on the wheel coming back from Boston after the Mansfield II show. Ran into the guard rail badly. Luckily there was no other vehicles on the road.
i doze off for what was likely ~3 seconds, on the drive back from Cleveland right after the '03 PJ show there on route to Toronto, right as the interstate began to curve. thankfully i snapped out of it and told myself i'll never drive home that tired after a PJ show again
oh, and a '97 BMW 528 as a daily driver an '85 Alpina B7 Turbo when i feel like treating myself to a fun ride in the summer months

The only reason I drive a fairly new car (2008 RAV 4) is because a little over a year ago some dickhead ran into my 96 Honda Accord wagon and totaled it.
It had 112,000 miles and it was still going strong. I LOVED that car! Great mileage, comfortable for road trips, perfect for hauling my husband's band PA equipment, etc., no way was I ready to part with that car and there was nothing comparable to replace it for what I could spend. My new car is pretty nice but I still miss my Honda. :(

Congrats on your new wheels though.
there's something about a wagon and a well lived in car that makes it so loved!!
I keep saying the only things to take my forester wagon from me will be if it's ever totaled or if there's a repair that would cost more than a new car.... other than those I'll love it and drive it till it crumbles!

too true. 2 years ago my dad was driving my previous car (a 96 spacewagon) and some bastard hit him, (he was fine). the bonnet, wing, lights and grill wouldve cost more to fix than buying another 2nd hand wagon.
i looked at newer cars for a few hours and then said "fuck this", i can get another wagon. There's tons of these particular models knocking about, they dont seem to break down or have problems, and i needed the space for work.
So i bought the exact same car again, but in a nicer colour, 1994, with better spec for ....well, lets just say it cost me less than my laptop did. Brilliant. Its like a home on wheels.
Probably the same one I drove when you asked in the old pit...1988 Porsche 928 S4
Sweet man, I have a 1989 944.
Im getting rid of it very soon though, Ill be getting a 2005-06 Mini Cooper S.
944, I might find that hard to part with.... :ugeek:

I love the Matrix. The only bad thing I can say (which isnt all that bad), is that it doesnt have much power, and it definitely FEEls like a compact car. Doors are thin and there's a lot of roadnoise. But it wil run, and run, and run... and the mileage is good. But what I like the best is how much crap I can fit into it. Once you put the seats down, it's very spacious for a compact. I would definitely get another one down the road.
I drive a Grandma car...literally. Since my grandparents are no longer able to drive, I have their car. Good lord I'm cool in my white Buick Century with a PJ sticker!
This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper
I'm preparing to buy a new one. Any suggestions? Something small
Mini cooper, the car up above.
I had one! I loved loved loved my mini...but the dealerships are all so far away and such a pain in the ass to get to, that even getting basic maintenance done became and all day ordeal. As much as I would love another one, I think I'm gonna have to go with something else. :(

we love our Scion xB, so it might be worth it for you to check one out! plus, there are toyota dealerships all over the place!
I drive an '08 Silverado and love it. GM's quality has made a huge turnaround compared to my prior '96 GMC Jimmy. I know it's not the most eco-friendly ride out there but the 4x4 has been essential for dealing with mother nature bombarding my roads with snow.
