I got really drunk before the Ed show in NYC night 1, and was wasted during Liam Finn, but somehow managed to sober up before Eddie came on and had a grand old time. The only thing bad about that night was the douchebags behind me telling me to sit down when he was playing Porch. How do you sit down during that song, its like impossible, even the acoustic version is fucking rocking.
    32 shows and counting...

I've done this at a couple DMB shows. We tailgate the whole day and I end up not remembering half of the concert. I would NEVER do this for a Pearl Jam show though. Who needs an artificial high when you're seeing the greatest band in the world?

    +1.
    Never again.

My roommate got so drunk at EV LA night 1 she was falling asleep in the 9th row. I nearly killed her.

  • i kinda remember an experience like this in Atlanta 03. Big blur. all i can remember is being in the bathroom during the encore break hearing crown of thorns start....i ran out of there...knocked 2 beers out of some guy's hands (sorry dude) trying to get back to my seat. the next thing i remember was a bunch of guys holding ed up in the air...then the show was over.

    thank god for the bootlegs!

I have to be sober for Pearl Jam. It's too important to me. I barely drink.
As much as I love to get high (seems to be a thing of the past for me) I would NEVER do that at a Pearl Jam show. I don't want to laugh at the band, I want to enjoy them.
Toledo, I was there. I pimped myself and stood about 4 feet from the stage. I'm sorry you missed that one.
I plan never to bring a camera again. I feel that I missed part of this particular show trying to get pictures!?
Fuck that. I'm never doing that again.

I've def. been close to "drunk" at shows before, but I always know when to stop. Don't want to miss anything, especially at a PJ show!

Especially when flannel is so expensive.

    true dat.
when we got front row for pj 08 my guy suggested no breaking out the camera this time. glad we didn't. It can be a distraction…snapping pics. Plus it’s not very ‘rock n roll’ having a camera in your hands the entire show.
I figured there be plenty pics online the next day, so I felt I wasn’t missing out on anything by not taking pics.

Dusseldorf 06. The reality of being able to get drinks from the petrol station down the road from the venue, have a few sitting on the road next to the petrol station, then head to the line and drink some more (and getting free drinks from random 10cers because of my ridiculous concert wear), all in plain sight of the cops without getting busted, was just too much to bear. How could I NOT?! How could I turn down FREE GERMAN BEER?!

That'll do me. Until next time when I get free beer.
115 bucks for half a haircut by a novice? I want my money back!

Picture takers drive me NUTS at concerts. I saw one show (not PJ) in Columbus and the guy right in front of me stood stock still the whole time, holding up a camera to videotape the show. He was in the building but watching the whole thing on his tiny little video screen... why bother going?

Ed commented on it at the Vic show, asking people to stop snapping (thank God... it was ridiculous). I've seen people put up 100 pictures after a show... there's no way you need that many pictures of a show. You're missing the experience in favor of some trite nostalgia trip. "Oh, here's Ed with his acoustic playing Gone. This is still Gone, but if you look close I tiled the camera about 15 degrees. I think it shows Ed playing Gone in a completely different light. Cool huh?"

I glad other people take pictures at concerts because I never do. I'd rather pay attention to what's going on.
