i was sick of all my nail polishes at home and picked one up last nite (this pretty cocoa-mauvy-dusty rose sorta color), wasn't paying attention to the brand. found out it's actually a charitable pick! :D check out the site, they got some pretty colors, and are environmentally friendly and don't test on critters :) good stuff!

  • nice!
you can even get em at target, cool! altho i don't go there often. too bad not available at CVS. also would be nice to see prices...but some cool colors in there. i have to say, i usually stick to the uber quick-dry colors from maybelline...i don't have the patience anymore to wait for my nails to dry. :P i have all of 3 nail colors: clear, pale, blush pink, and a dark pruple-red. haha. might be time to try something new.....thanks for the tip!

    and check out kristi yamaguchi!
    i always loved her!
    :)

btw - that site, bit of bizarro world...once entered, apparently can't back-button your way back here!

i was able to...though had to do it quite quickly.

I love OPI, one of the only brands to not chip.

yeah i have clear, a pink nude-y color, deep wine red and coppery taupe. i just got sick of all of them  i either go with a neutral or something dark, so i thought i'd try something different :) the cocoa-a-go-go is the one i got. now knowing how cool this brand is though, i'm definitely gonna check out the other colors they have next time i'm in target!

and yeah OPI is great, that's my fave polish along with the quick dry revlon (i'm also impatient heehee)

well i perused it a bit, so perhaps why. normally, i can always get my way back but that site was just not having it! :P

i've gotten OPI nail polish when i have my nails done, and honestly can't say it doesn't chip....tho it does seem to last better than most. i'm tough on my nails tho. i've never bought it for home use so haven't used it much....don't go for manicures often.

chica...i hear ya! i should try out something new....but i always seem drawn to the same colors. haha. we'll see. but i love to hear about companies that give back...and not testing on critters is always a good thing!

I'm not big on manicures, I'll usually do them myself. BUt as for pedicures, OPI lasts the longest I've found.... i get a month or 2 out of it.

yeah opi seems the most resilient out of the ones i've used. i also thrash my nails something awful!

and i always gravitate towards the same color palette too. one time i bought a bottle at sephora thinking "ooooh pretty", swearing i didn't have anything like it. came home....put it next to a bottle i already had of another brand. yep....virtually the same color  haha there are some colors i know i won't ever embrace, like neon or bright hot pink or anything, but i do want to expand my polish horizons some :)

I think a neon blue could be fun on the toes in the summer.

oh well on toes i find most polish lasts a long time, period! :)
seriously, sometimes it seems like the polish just wears off...rather than ever geting chipped. haha. but 2 months? damn, that's good. altho i don't think i'd ever left polish on that long....my mnails grow fast! and yes, manicures/pedicures...i do both mostly at home...but sure, both are also a fabulous treat once in awhile done professionally.

and chica...... on buying the same color, different brands. i do the same with soooo many things. obviosuly i just know my own tastes really well. ;)

pedicures don't last too long for me with other brands
but that may be because I wear flip flops from march to november :P

i do love oranges, like a light tangerine, for spring/summer :) i'll go for that when i get pedicures

haha yeah, some people have the right complexion for certain colors. i'm not pale white but not dark either, so it's hard to find just the right color that doesn't look stupid on me!

I generally wear blue on my toenails... from probably next month til as late as i can get away with it... maybe October... and it usually lasts a couple of months  . As for my finger nails... the only colour that suits my hands is also blue... but it's not really a colour for 'work' any other colour seems to make my hands look absolutely TINY

This is my favorite kind. A little pricey, but you have to splurge sometimes.

  • i don't normally wear nail polish, but we're getting a new nail polish at work that i'm pretty excited about. i can't remember the brand name, but it's a paint and peel polish :) reminds me of the tinkerbell nail polish that i would wear as a kid!!

I'm trying to remember the brand of nail polish I used back in high school. I want to say it was NYC or something like that. It was a midnight blue, and it was fucking awesome.

Strangely enough the people who gave me the hardest time about it (aside from my mother) were the pot heads. Seriously you would think they would enjoy/encourage anything that would take attention away from their silly tie-dye, hemp wearing, smelly hippie asses.

actually, there are quite a LOT of cool colors there...but $18 for one bottle?!
definitely one of those things i actually don't want to try, b/c if i like it too much, i'll always want it. granted, i don't buy many bottles of nail polish in a year, but still....$18. :o:o:o

    haha.

i think this thread is definitely pushing me to go more 'bold' with my colors. only problem with that is, darker or bolder colors....sooooooooo much more obvious when they chip, and i HATE chips, but i don't like doing my nails more than once a week. eh, who knows....see if something tempts me. ;) i wish they made a LOT more color choices in the quick-dry polishes.

btw - i don't *get* the issue with a nail polish thread? :? what's the problem? this place is filled with BS, why not nail polish? sheesh.

well i am sure you could find plenty of volunteers for that job, pedicure or no. ;)

and really, i was just illustrating simply how FANTASTIC pedicures feel...b/c they do! it's not just about pretty feet, tho that is definitely a bonus...and quite honestly, many a man could do with prettying up his feet. :D
