To translate - All right friends (Suckers), we're almost one month away from my (Da Kid) favorite holiday. What do you guys (suckers) have in mind. I'm (Da Kid) going to Chicago seeing the parade and trying a Shamrock Shake for the first time. Then I'm going home to the parade the city and getting hammered and watching the Boondock Saints.

Out of all the holidays, St. Patrick's Day is your favorite? I mean, I am Irish too, but the 4th of July is probably my favorite, just ahead of New Years Day and Christmas Day.

St. Patrick's Day I usually plan out, oh I dunno, on St. Patrick's Day. I live around some pretty cool Irish style pubs, so we just hit one of them up for a few Guinness beers.

Any man who says Halloween is not his fav holiday is lying... there can be no complaints about a holiday that makes it ok for otherwise prudish but gorgeous young women to dress like total porn star skanks for a night.

D'oh! How did I forget Halloween? Thanks for the correction. Put Halloween after 4th of July, and before all the other BS holidays.

We've got the ole Erin Express on the 14th here in the city, and the next day I leave for Clearwater Beach for Phillies Spring Training where I will enjoy the 17th watching the Phils play the Reds from the Tiki Bar at Bright House Networks Field in 80 degree weather....I really don't think it gets any better than that.

    Hi Jimmy!!!!

Just make sure at least a couple of shots of Jamison make it into the rotation!

I might be heading out to Chicago with some friends. I can't decide if I want to take time off for St. Pat's for for Tigers Opening Day. Decisions, decision... :?

We've gone down to the stadium for Opening Day for the last five years, and never once bought tickets for the game. We just bar crawl around Detroit. Everyone comes out, it's like a statewide holiday. Even when the Tigers were horrible, the city came alive for Opening Day.

There is just nothing like opening day.
I celebrated my 21st birthday at the Twins Home opener last year... oh goodness. We went out bar hopping after... My friend Ryan carried me a mile back to his car. Bless his heart. I still owe him one for that come to think of it... :?

We don't think that we're Irish as much as we celebrate the fact that it's socially acceptable to drink all day.
It doesn't really take alot for us Americans to find a reason to celebrate with binge drinking. So we steal holidays.
Other examples include Cinco de Mayo, Bastille Day, Friday... We enjoy celebrating things.

My family used to go in on season tickets with a few other families, so I saw about 10 games a season during the 90's... when they were the worst team in baseball. It got harder once I moved away, but I still try to make one if I'm nearby over the summer. We all went for Father's Day last year.

I got so choked up when they made the series 2 years back. It was the closest I've come to crying in years :)

I have a soft spot for the Twins too though, because they played the best World Series of my lifetime, when they beat Atlanta in 7 games. It was boosted by the fact that their ace was former Tiger (and my fav player) Jack Morris... he pitched a 10 inning shutout and they won 1-0. Amazing.

well i am sure st paddy's day is just as huge in chicago as it is in NY....and it's just not my thing. there is nothing 'special' about it that i find worth celebrating. as i said, i don't like the beer, nor whiskey, or any of the food.....so just not my thing. whereas cinco de mayo, don't much care about the actual 'holiday' either....but the food and drink are spectacular, LOVE it....people don't get sooo ridiculously drunk or obnoxious...and sure, most of the mex places play it up, have specials etc....so it makes it worth going out for. i am SURE loads of places do the same for st paddy's but since none of it appeals to me...getting a corned beef and cabbage on special, yea...not for me. nor beer specials, green beeer, etc, etc. but those who DO enjoy - always hope they have a blast! we all have our fave holidays for different reasons. if it weren't so *big* in NY, or if i didn't have a lot of family of irish descent, i'd not even ever give it a second thought.
