Seriously, I haven't had a landline for at least 8 years and have even gone to the trouble of registering the cell for the donotcall list.
trouble?
it's just so easy!
we have 1 landline and 2 cells between us....and ALL are on the do not call registry. nowadays it seems there are 2 ways to go about it - register all online - or, call registry from each phone and it gets automatically entered. easy, easy...i wonder why more don't do it, and if it at all has made any dent in telemarketing industry.
really?
that's ridiculous!
in the US, it's free.
and yes, telemarketing calls used to be ridiculous...so it's nice to not ever screen thru their messages, nor ever accidently pick up their calls, etc. i like not having the bother.
however, we pay $2.50 a month to have our landline unlisted in the phonebook. that annoys me. however, i don't want anyone looking me up in a phone book, so it's worth it....even if i think the charge is ridiculous.Stay with me...

i just registered our cell phones on the DNC list yesterday. we've been getting nailed w/ telemarketers calling our cells at least 3 times a day each. good news, though...no calls today!! (yet)I LOVE MUSIC.

as to the scam, i would be more worried that they are looking into homes who do or don't have a security system, looking to see who doesn't...for possible 'targets'....b/c that would be perfect for someone looking for homes to rob. there are just way too many scams, and way too many people looking to get things, that i prefer as little info as possible to be given out about me, and sure...to make my home look as 'occupied' as best i can, and sure...2 dogs barking helps too. :P"I'm not present, I'm a drug that makes you dream"0 -

OMG!
i had no idea you've already eperienced this. :( :( how horrible! believe me, while i don't live alone....just being female, the thoughts do come to mind, thus why i immediately think of such things. a few years ago, not in my area but somewhere in NY...there was a rash of home burglaries, targeting women when they came home from work...as they entered their homes...and then rushed them. case the house, see who gets home when, if alone, etc. i mean seriously...even tho i live with my husband, its easy enough to see if people get home around the same time or not, etc, etc. so yes, i remember reading that and thinking...how horrible! just like when burglars steal utility uniforms, etc....thus why now they have official IDs, etc. of course, anything can be faked, stolen, etc......but probably also why i see my home as my santuary, and thus i don't open my door unless i am expecting you, don't really answer calls, etc. just very private/protective of my home, and most especially, my time at home. glad you're on the registry now, and smart answer you gave the scammers....be safe!Stay with me...

confused by my reply? how novel.
hahaha....seriously, *I* apparently misunderstood you. i get it now. well, being able to buy the list doesn't matter. here in the states, if you are on the list and a telemarketer calls you - and if you have some way of identifying the # - you can then call the registry and inform, and then the telemarketer gets fined. thus, i've never gotten a call since being on the list. it's these 'litte things in life that make the big differences! :PStay with me...
