Me too. I'm a bit suss about the bit where Letterman asked him what the name of the actress was that he worked with in the movie and Joaquin looked at him blankly and didn't say anything....as if he would forget? Put on I reckon!

I suppose everyone thinks it's funny to be cruel though? Letterman started digging at him as if he wasn't there and that seemed to make the situation worse.

I think people perhaps take too much joy in other people's problems at times like this. If you had a friend who was obviously slipping into a hole, would you just laugh, be cruel, and throw mud?

But is he slipping into a hole? Maybe he's just tired of acting and just wants to do music. We don't think it's weird that a musician all of a sudden just starts acting do we?

He was on a nationally televised talk show acting off-kilter. If he's got a problem, don't go on the show. When you start acting erratic, you're open game for Dave.

  • Just watched the clip... sorry, but he looks pretty gross. Letterman at least TRIES to be decent before ripping into him. LOL.
I hope it's an act, but I'm doubtful...

if this is a serious mental breakdown it's up to the people around him to get him help...however this supposedly is an act and is being documented for a borat type movie

or joaquin is just being an ass...in either case, dave has a comedy show to do and he did what should have been done

in any event, joaquin is doing nothing new...

That was hilarious......right up there with the Harvey Pekar meltdown, the Crispin Glover incident, and every Charles Grodin appearance.

Haven't watched the clip yet....does it rank with the Farrah implosion?

  • I think he's pulling some Andy Kaufman stunt. He (Joaquin) stands up at the end and takes off his shades and says something to Dave, so by removing his glasses he's either winking at Dave or showing Dave he's stoned out of his gourd. that's my thoughts...

I wasn't referring to his career change. I was noticing that he seems to be fragile because he's using too many drugs. The behavior that this is evoking from him is what everyone seems to think is so funny.

People cry about Layne S. and Kurt C. but they kinda looked glassy and slow like this on TV before they finally went the whole way down the road.

People act like it's funny until the poor sod winds up DEAD.

if he is gonna do drugs and treat himself like a "joke". then jokes shall be made about him. dave was just doing his job regardless whether it was an act or not.
