The Lions... what else is there to say? Oldest expansion team in organized professional sports...
and if any city could use a break, it's Detroit.
Well, they do have the Pistons and Red Wings.
I can't complain to much- in my lifetime the Tigers have won a WS and played in another, Pistons have won three times and the Wings could arguably be the best franchise in sports over the last 10-15 years.
Outside of sports though, we could use a break. Things are getting pretty bad over here.

What the hell happened to the Tigers anyway? After that nightmarish 2006 WS , they seem to have gone right back into the dumper...

I remember last winter, hearing on the radio that we got Miguel Caberara and Dontrell Willis, along with Edgar Renteria. I thought we were the shoe in to win the series- Caberara rebounded a few months in and adjusted to AL pitching and had a great year, but Willis and Rentaria were terrible bust.
I'm hoping this year they can get back to good. The AL central seems on some weeks the toughest division in baseball, and then other its terrible. Detroit, Minnesota, Cleveland and Chicago WS always seem to be so streaky.

yeah, but somehow "my" brain dead GM saw fit to give Edgar an $18m contract. Just what my no hitting Giants needed.

Agreed on the current state of shittiness. But they have won playoff games before. And their entire team has never been accused of cheating and then still stinking.
Keep in mind though- yes they did win A playoff game. They had one (and you could make an argument for No. 1) of the best running backs in the history of the game in Barry Sanders. And the franchise took this guy, and pretty much ran him out of the game...
How sad is it that we can have a discussion on having the worst team in organized sports?

Renteria's a bit of an every other year sort of guy. Way over-paid at that price for sure though. He's a terrible SS too. Part of the Tigers demise last year was due to a terrible infield.
Mike Piazza---backed off an inside pitch, and a muscle rolled up and off his bone like an accordion. Also, he was a 330 hitter with 35 HR's pre testing, and a 275 15 HR hitter
David Ortiz--just look at his rookie card with the Twins. He was released by the Twins, and next thing you know, he gains 40 pounds and starts hitting 50+ Hr's
Luis Gonzalez--HR's per year starting in 96---15, 10, 23, 26, 31, 57, 28, 26. In each of those years, he had at least 527 at bats
Andruw Jones--averaged about 33 HR's per year, and then popped to 51 and 41, before dropping off the face of the earth
Preston Wilson--went from slugger pre-testing, to out of baseball after
