This woman is unstable on every level. She wants to be a counselor; I shudder at the very idea of her giving direction to others. Not to mention, the salary she will be taking in regarding her career choice doesn't even come close to what she will need to provide for all of those children. This whole thing is CRAZY. Kamrava should lose his medical license indefinitely and I would not be surprised if those kids are taken away from her at some point, as they should be. The fact that she wanted more than 6 children while void of a husband and job to assist in caring for them is evidence enough that she is out of touch with reality. Now she has 14. Whaat? Apparently, pre-implantation therapy to ensure mental health was never considered. Unfortunately, the ones who will suffer for this woman's reckless decisions are the children and that is the core issue at hand. They did not choose to be brought into this world, nor did they choose the mother they have been given. I am thoroughly disgusted and I truly hope someone steps in to save those children from a fate they do not deserve.
the level of judgement here is astounding. one of those babies might just find a cure for cancer. can we just wait and see how she handles all those children before we crucify the woman??

It is physically impossible for her to spend more than an hour with each child a day. And considering two (at least) have special needs... you don't see any irresponsibility here?

So are we to pretend that we think this is a wonderful thing and hold it up to be emulated by others with the breeder gene? Are people not allowed to have opinions and express them? I don't need to see how she is going to handle all these children cause I've already seen how she went about accumulating all of them in the first place. And in my opinion, she's looney tunes.
I do hope these kids do have happy and productive lives; they are being victimized here as much as anyone. That still doesn't excuse the reckless actions of their mother and her doctor. And for the record, I hold the doctor in more contempt than anyone here. Octo-mom is just the more visible target cause she's made herself a pseudo-celebrity in doing all this press with plans to write a book (in her spare time!?!). She is an obvious trainwreck. That's not illegal and normally I wouldn't even give a shit to warrant comment. But when you push the ethical boundary in IVF to produce a result that would never occur naturally, when your actions threaten the health and well being of your children, and when you barely have the means to care for your existing 6 kids before adding an additional 8, you cannot expect people not to comment on that. If she wanted to live her life making stupid decisions that affected no one other than herself, then great. The minute she added 14 kids into the mix, I'm going to speak up as an advocate for them cause they can't speak for themselves.
This didn't just happen -- it was manufactured -- and it shouldn't happen again and I think that's worth shouting from the mountaintops. You make decisions in life and you live with the consequences -- good or bad. If this woman didn't want to be crucified, she should have applied some critical thinking to her decision-making. Moreover, the doctor should be dragged into the light to account for implanting all 6 embryos and for not better evaluating the mother's mental and financial abilities. I'm honestly shocked that he even agreed to perform the procedure. I'm blown away that something like this can happen so cavalierly nowadays. At a minimum, people seeking IVF should be scrutinized the same as people seeking to adopt.
You are right that what's done, is done. And at this point, I do just want what's best for the children. I'd love to move beyond the outrageous-ness of this story and concentrate solely on the needs of those kids. Unfortunately that's easier said than done with Octo-mom parading herself around in the press and unveiling more disturbing details about herself and how this all came to be.

Anyone think there's any chance the kids may someday read all of this stuff that's being said (here or elsewhere) about them and their family? Just wondering.

who said she needs to divide her time like that?? as a single parent myself ive found negotiation with my children to have been of paramount importance, not only for their well being but tfor mine as well. and no i dont have 14 children, nor are any of my children special needs, but the principle is the same. this woman has it so much harder than i could ever imagine. you are automatically assuming that these children will get lost in the shuffle.

she kind of brought that on herself. the hard times. not trying to judge, but look at the situation for a second. she had 6 kids. she paid for 8 more. she has no job.
without the media surrounding the situation this would have been a tragedy. she wouldn't have been able to afford diapers for her kids. irresponsible is putting it mildly.
... you are automatically assuming that these children will get lost in the shuffle.
I think assumptions are being made on the basis of how she has already 'cared' for her other six kids (from what the grandmother was saying). It would seem she was not really capable of caring properly for those 6, so I guess that is why people are thinking she most probably will not be able to do so with 14 kids.

nope. just making an observation about the level of negative judgement going on here.
Well, I think people here are just making observations about the level of bad judgment used with respect to Octo-mom and her doctor's respective decision-making.
... you are automatically assuming that these children will get lost in the shuffle.

Fair assumption.
Yep, she has a track record to go on. I don't think anyone is saying these babies shouldn't be loved and aren't a joy as any other baby is, its all about the mom's abilities, or lack thereof.
.....you are automatically assuming that these children will get lost in the shuffle.
If she makes these kinds of decisions, they will. They could have had good care.....
Octuplet mom spurns nurses' free baby care offer The Associated Press LOS ANGELES
The founder of a nonprofit nurses' group says the California mother of octuplets born last month allowed an offer of free, 24-hour care for the infants and six older children to lapse.
Linda Conforti-West, founder of Angels in Waiting, said Friday that Nadya Suleman appeared to lose interest in the group's proposal when she was told last week that a reality show and a biweekly press conference on the babies' condition was out of the question due to their fragile immune systems.
Angels in Waiting's offer, which included a new home, expired Thursday at midnight.
Suleman's publicist could not be immediately reached for comment.
Angels in Waiting specializes in care of premature babies.
Why? It wouldn't make them famous:
"Attorney Gloria Allred, who represents the group, said Suleman spoke with Angels in Waiting founder Linda West-Conforti and seemed to be more interested in "capitalizing on her infants" and doing a reality television show.
The non-profit told Suleman that they couldn't agree to working in stride with a camera crew because of the risk it posed to the babies' health and their ability to do their work."
In honor of the mother of the octuplets, Denny's is offering a new breakfast meal:

She likely won't accept any help 'cuz she would lose state medical for the kids. It would have to be a very large amount for her to accept. The amount she is getting from the government is very large and needed! If someone is willing to cover all medical expenses for 14 kids and her for the next 18 years, maybe she'll accept help.
have you guys heard the latest? last night on the factor O'Reilly played a 911 call the mother made last year.Evidently one of her children went for a walk with the grandmother and she forgot about so she panics b/c she cant find the child, so she calls 911 and the call went something like this "I can't find my baby I'm gonna kill myself --- I can't find my baby Im going to kill my self " The whole time the 911 operator is trying to calm her down but she kept saying the same thing over and over  Also She has pictures of her giving birth to the 14 babies for sale for $1,000,000. This is wrong on so many levels imo.

so i just heard that call....this woman not only shouldn't have children, she shouldn't have pets
Today on the news it said there has been 14 calls to 9/11. I can't remember in what time period, but it was a relatively short period of time.
They were talking about the call you mention and said that she was unable to give the 911 operator the info they needed b/c of her panic. They said she needs to be able to at least answer their questions in order to take care of kids.
She seems so immature with unrealistic expectations of the world around her. She seems to live in a fantasy world.
I hope she makes it! If she doesn't, the kids will suffer. Maybe she should think about adoption, according to Dr. Phil. He has met with her a few times.

The 911 operator had to tell her to stop saying that about killing herself cuz another child was near her. She still kept saying it.

He was on The View yesterday and tactfully did say the kids she has weren't being taken care of. He said the house was very unsanitary, among other things he said.
