this is kind of related, has anyone else heard jaydiohead? it's a jay-z / radiohead mashup, and definitely the best mashup i've heard. i'd highly recommend it to anyone who likes either artist. if anyones interested i can try to dig up the link to it, it was a free download
i haven't heard it yet but a buddy told me it was great... if you don't mind, i would love the link...
yeah turns out it wasn't hard to dig up at all....

Grammys Track Record:
1967 - Even though the Beatles Sgt. Pepper won album of the year, 'Up, Up and Away' won best Record and Best Song... beating out 'Strawberry Fields Forever' and 'Penny Lane', both released that Summer. The Fifth Dimension also beat the Beatles as Best Vocal Group. Other notable Albums released that year, 'Are You Experienced' by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, 'Piper At The Gates Of Dawn' by Pink Floyd, 'Days Of Future Passed' by The Moody Blues, 'Magical Mystery Tour' The Beatles and 'Their Satanic Majesties Request' by The Rolling Stones.
...
1969 - A landmark year where 'Abbey Road', 'Tommy', 'Let It Bleed', 'Led Zeppelin', 'Led Zeppelin II', 'Blind Faith', 'Green River' (Creedence Clearwater Revival), The first Santana album and Dylan's 'Nashville Skyline'... the Grammy for Album of the Year? 'Blood, Sweat and Tears'. Song Of The Year? Remember... think of the songs from 'Abbey Road', the first TWO Zeppelin Albums, 'Tommy' and 'Let It Bleed'... Winner was 'Games People Play' by Joe South.
...
1971 - Another landmark year for rock that produced 'Who's Next', 'L.A. Woman', 'Meddle', 'Sticky Fingers', Genesis' 'Nursery Crimes', David Bowie's 'Hunky Dory' and 'The Man Who Sold The World', Elton John's 'Madman Across The Water' and 'Led FUCKING Zeppelin IV'!!! Carole King swept the Grammys. Now, Granted, 'Tapestry' was a great album... but, there is no way 'You've Got a Friend' beats 'Stairway To Heaven'. and the best performance by a Group (or Duo)? The Carpenters beat the Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, The Who and Floyd.
...
See where I'm going with this?

Hail, Hail!!!
if radiohead wasn't going to win album of the year, im glad at least some talent got it. 'raising sand' was fuckin beautiful, and the pair was amazin at bonnaroo last year when i saw them. kudos.

knew I could count on at least one other person here to share that sentiment. I simply cannot stand anything about that band - from the pretentious Sgt Peppers clothes and painted piano, to the awkward dancing (and onstage movement from Martin in general) to his painful falsettos...that band is just total whitewashed garbage (IMHO) - I simply don't get it. Sigh.
hehe was about to blast coldplay but it's already been done by everyone else
I love that Raising Sand swept the awards as for once an actual good album has won a so called 'important grammy'. The whole thing was just a joke though.

agreed. they were definitely a highlight for me at ACL. great record.
Raising Sand by Robert Plant & Allison Kraus - a very good album, but it's an album of covers and nowhere near as good as In Rainbows. but this is the Grammys so its par for their course. I suppose Thom and the guys will get one when they've reached their mellow semi-retirement phase too.
Christ Martin (not a typo) - get over yourself. did anyone else catch that 60 minutes interview with him? he's got a pretty serious case of rock star madness, don't he?
U2 - sigh.
MIA - that whole thing made me nervous. I kept waiting for her water to break while she was on stage.
Katy Perry - that song is annoying, but
Grohl & McCartney - that was fun to watch, and sounded good, but I was hoping for something that would show off Dave's drumming talent more.
I just don't get Coldplay. Best Rock Album?? There is no way I would even put them in that category. Loved it that Plant/Kraus cleaned up, Radiohead for best Alt Album, and the damn Jonas Brothers losing as well. Even KOL won a grammy, good for them!

I was at the Grammys....the Radiohead performance was great, as was Neil Diamond, Paul McCartney and the Four Tops tribute.
We saw some of the pre-telecast awards, which are announced in a room at the L.A. Convention Center. Robert Trujillo from Metallica accepted their award. Carrie Underwood and Mars Volta also showed-up to get theirs. Since they announce awards for 100 categories at the pre-telecast awards, some of the nominees get there just before their category, and leave right after. Barry Manilow (who looks way too young for his age) walked out right after he lost. Disturbed were sitting behind us, and they were very gracious and did not leave right after they lost in their category.
On the red carpet, Neil Diamond & Robert Plant walked by us....very cool to see Neil up close!
The funniest part of the night occured at the concession stands. Its a very long show, and they cut-off food sales 20 minutes before air time, so once they announce that food sales are ending, everyone pushes forward and tries to get a last minute snack, as if there is some sort of famine! We were lucky enough to get 2 Wetzels Pretzels!
the whole show was terrible! From the begining with U2 sucking things up too the coldplay and jay-z garbage... I mean you know its a bad show when the best preformance comes from an egomaniac like Kanye West, and a 9 month pregnant M.I.A. (Who should have won all the awards she was up for!). Even Sir Paul and Dave Grohl fell flat on there face...
