Someone in the audience: Fuck the oscars!!!
Vedder: Like I give a shit!

Ed must be in so much pain right now....

On another note...I love these shows!!!! Love watching the celebs, love the music......

this just in...he was spotted balling his eyes out stage left...yeah right. I don't think Ed gives two rips about the Grammy's at this point in his career (or ever really).

I feel like other awards shows, namely the Oscars and Emmys, actually reward excellence, whereas the Grammys were invented to be and always have been a music industry self-congratulatory party.
Totally agree. I'm so surprised that people place the Grammys in such high regards. Good thing that EV sees through the BS, now the fans should too.

I think you mean "bawling" his eyes out...."balling" is something completely different...I suppose he could do either at the side of the stage....both would raise eyebrows... ;)

No offence, but what the hell is that supposed to mean? We don't know what he currently thinks of the Grammys. Like it or not, the Grammys are music's highest honour....and of course it (like music fans and artist) have changed over the years. The American Music awards are the joke...not the Grammys...

I understand everybody has their own taste and all but to all or anyone who thinks John Mayer has no talent, as a musician and guitar player myself, I have to STRONGLY disagree. If you have listened to any of his trio stuff, or anything besides his poppy radio hits I think your opinion would change. I have no problem saying he is probably one of the best guitarists of our generation. He has played with all of the greats and there is a reason why. It sucks that Eddie lost to him but I'd rather see him lose to Mayer than someone who actually has no talent. (tough catagory to be in)

Go Ahead and start bashing me. I just ask that you do some research before the bashing starts :)

Not winning a Grammy is better than actually winning one these days. And they put the Jonas Brothers before fucking Paul McCartney...wth?

The Grammy's are music's highest honor? Please. It's all political. Just who decides who's the ultimate in music, besides the music industry? They're glorifying themselves, that's all it is. Why do we need someone else to decide who's "best" anyway? It's all subjective after all.

When Jethro Tull wins the 'Best Heavy Metal' awards in 1989... over a Decade beyond 'Aqualung', Thick As A Brick' and 'A Passion Play'... and beat Metallica. Then, Yes... Jethro Tull gets put in the catagory of 'Most Monumental Grammy Fuck-Ups'.
Same goes for 'Steely Dan' winning in 2000someThing... way after those tremendous records they made in the 70s and 80s... and Herbie Hancock winning last year, but somehow was passed over for all of those innovative records he made with Chick Correa and Stanley Clarke in the 1970s.
In other words... The Grammy haven't become a joke... The Grammys have ALWAYS BEEN a joke ever from the beginning. They were glorifying 'Kool And The Gang' and 'K.C. and the Sunshine Band' as 'Best Rock Groups' in the mid 70s... when LED ZEPPLIN, THE WHO and PINK FLOYD were out there.
