No...I have always needed the money. :oops:All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.0

I did a long time ago when I worked in a bigger office. Now if I do it really sucks for the other person there. So only if I am really sick now.So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream

Cut him some slack. Its been my experience that 1. A woman never believe a man is really sick and 2. Nothing ticks them off more than a man sleeping on the couch (sick or not).
Back in the day, yes I would take a mental health day here and there. Have kids now so I need those days for when they're sick.I can't teach common sense.0 -
does a hangover count?0

I get paid a normal days salary everyday for the first 3 days of sickness then it's statutory sick pay.Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

Anyway yeh, I've done it in better employment climates where the company's lucky to have YOU
but then I never got sick so I figured it was a waste of sick days and they can be better used for taking a lazy day. But now anyone who has a job is lucky to have one... but the past couple of years I was only taking them when I needed them. The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
Chicago 07? And love
What a different life

I was kidding anyway. Hence the grin/winky face.
He's got exactly what I had last week...and it was horrible. Although when I told him about my joke on here, he rolled his eyes just like you did!

Of course. I get 6 sick days per year and I can't carry any of them over until I've been here for 3 years. I was sick 6 times this year and I'll definitely be sick 6 times this year. There's nothing better than getting paid and not working.0
-
Right now I'm holding 12 weeks of sick time (the max). Because I've maxed out, I've lost about 15 days over the last year and a half.
You can do the math on whether I ever call in sick. The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.

i think the way my firm handles sick leave is pretty smart, for all involved. we have no pre-determined set sick leave. this way, there is nothing to feel like you *should* use or lose, nothing carried forward, etc. this also means, you call in sick when you need to, no questions asked, etc. granted, if someone abused sick leave, took a lot, etc...sure to be questions, but overall....it's a very pleasant environment surrounding time needed...totally understanding. if you take 5 or more consecutive days, you go into short-term disability....and i am unsure how much longer before you go into long-term disability. for the average sick day/short-term dis...you get full pay. for long term, i think it's determined on how long you've worked here.
anyhoo...over the course of my career, sure...i've taken a few mental health days, tho really...not too many at all. while i taught, i especially felt *guilty* calling in sick, even when legitamately, terribly ill....b/c i was in a private school, and then never got a replacement art teacher, so the primary teachers were stuck. however, i completely got over that in time, realizing it's the school's choice, not mine...and i am not dragging myself around when very sick. my retail jobs, couldn't care less b/c i didn't get paid in any case for sick time. my current position, it is blissful. e-mail sent to partners/directors/managers...and i'm good.Stay with me...

The last couple of places I've worked weren't very generous with sick days so it wouldn't have been very smart to call in sick if I wasn't. You had to save those days for when you really needed them."The stars are all connected to the brain."0

We don't have sick days here. Or at least, a bank of sick days that you track. You just call in when you are sick and that is that.
The theory behind that is that if you give someone 10 sick days per year and they don't roll over, employees are more likely to call in sick when they are not so they don't lose the days.
I like this system actually. But, to answer your questions, I do call in sick when I am not sometimes.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

yep. We don't get "personal days" but can use our sick time to take care of personal matters, and I do just that! The beach is a personal matter, right?

exactly!
same system.
and absolutely, use sick leave for personal matters when necessary. even for trin delays, etc....charge it to sick leave. we have a 'lost time' code - but that is when the firm deems it's use....or for bereavement leave. otherwise, it's all sick leave, holiday or vacation!Stay with me...

i did it once...i was working for a large corporation and was being treated like shit so one day my friends were going down to san diego for a padres game....so i said fuck it and called in sick...had a great time

one thing though....if you go to a baseball game, make sure to wear a hat and A LOT of sunscreen...coming back from a sick day with a tan might give you away

All the time. I've been legitimately sick and missed 2 days over the last 8 years.
Every other sick day was used for something else, whether it be to go Chicago to see the EV solo shows, go to Fenway to sit on the Green Monster, drive to Detroit to party while the Steelers were in the Super bowl, etc., etc.- Busted down the pretext
