So I just saw Gran Torino yesterday and I have to say, Why the hell is that movie not up for anything this year!? It was by far the best movie I have seen this year and I am appalled that he is not even up for best actor. Anyone else agree/disagree?
Totally agree. Epic film. Clint was epic. Great story.

Just saw this movie tonight. It was an excellent movie, but I didn't much care for the ending. Clint did a fantastic job. I can't believe he's still doing so well at his age! He's quite inspirational.
The movie was done in Highland Park, Michigan, but I wish they did it in Hamtramck. Both cities are surrounded by Detroit, they are like cities within a city. The movie had way more of a Hamtramck feel to it. The bigots, the people aging and dying off just so others move in who don't care about the place like the previous owners did, and the Mong gangs.
I remember back when I worked in a shelter for teens. We had a girl brought to us by the cops who a mong gang had raped and beaten. She was mong also. It got hairy, 'cuz we have to watch the safety of the other kids, plus ourselves. These gangs don't mess around.
I had never heard of mongs til then and learned a lot. They are ruthless and probably the worse gang group Detroit has ever seen, even to this day, althought I don't think they are in this area anymore.
I was surprised Eastwood chose Mongs as the gang.
The ending was a huge surprise to me. I guessed some of it, but the very finale I had no idea. Geez, I was wondering how Eastwood, as an old man, was going to pull this off and lo and behold he did.
I think this was the best movie I have ever seen, at least my memory says so.
It was well worth the $4.50 Comcast charged to rent it...and I watched it twice.

Have to agree I thought the ending tied things up nicely!
