deerhoof is pretentious bunk. i can't stand anything about that band or it's gimmick. MMJ is an overrated jam band. if you're going to be a jam band just be one. quit pretending to be a rock band. KoL is another band. i wanted to like them. but they're terrible.
best bands right now:
white stripes: jack white is one of the most talented musicians around right now.
tv on the radio: as far as i'm concerned. no one can touch this band at this point. see them live and you'll believe me.
the walkmen: this band should be huge. everyone who pretended to like me is gone / bows + arrows / you & me. fucking outstanding.
spoon: britt daniels. will go down as one of the great song writers of our generation.
the bronx: the only punk band with the exception of black flag that anyone should listen to. ever.
others:
interpol. queens of the stone age. ted leo. black rebel motorcycle club. little joy.

Jack is THE leading musician in my mind, but the white stripes, currently, are not the best band out right now. One the most important of the last decade? Yes. The Raconteurs are his new outlet and should stay that way.

Meg didn't seem to have an issue on Conan a couple weeks ago. There are rumblings of a new Stripes record later this year. Their last 2 albums are better than either of the Raconteurs albums.
If he ends the WS, I hope he takes what makes them fresh and interesting and applies it to the Raconteurs.

sweet, i didnt know they played conan, thats awesome. Hope she is okay. Would tend to agree about the last two stripes albums, compared to the racs. The solo on "you dont know what love is" at the end of that song makes me feel great.
