I’m in a bit of sticker shock on tickets to this. I said yes to going, someone else bought the tickets for me and I said yeah, let’s do the bottom. Really wasn’t thinking but there were $50 in fees and taxes. A full 33% of the ticket price. If I were Billy, I’d say that percentage number amounted to a conspiracy! Yeah, this should have been a smaller venue show. I mean Jack White is huge, and he still just usually books smaller spots.

also easier on jacks fans and staff with those bags he insists are used.

Looks like they turned off resale for the show tonight.  Ah, nothing like a little market manipulation to start a tour.

Surprisingly, Tampa has pretty decent sales...most of the lower level and 2nd floor are sold, just not the 3rd level. Helps it is a Friday night.

Not surprised by the poor sales in Atlanta.  Saw SP at the Gwinnett arena in 2018 and it was maybe 70% full at best.  That arena is much smaller than State Farm arena too.  Havn't decided on this show yet.  If I go, I'll just get tickets last minute.

It wasn’t quite embarrassingly empty but clearly twice the venue they needed.  Billy absolutely didn’t phone it in though. Lots of engagement with the crowd and they all played their asses off. Billy-James banter is a bit awkward though

Opened with empires which is awesome, bullet with butterfly wings, Today. When you start like that, no complaints from me.  Later it was a stretch of  tonight, tonight -cherub rock - zero - beguiled

if you can go, it’s worth it.  Loudest concert I’ve ever been to by a large margin, that wasn’t great. Painfully loud.  If it was in Europe I’m sure there is some health and safety regulations they would be violating.  It’s what I would imagine what sticking your head in a jet engine would be like

Billy is wearing dresses still and janes addiction brought strippers with them for their entire set so there is something for everyone

Thanks for all the updates.   Ya, they should have scheduled much smaller venues.  It has to be a little deflating being on stage and playing to an half empty arena.

Once the floor stood it looked reasonably full as they covered the empty spaces by spreading out. It was probably 80% occupied in reality on the floor.

lower level was probably 65%.  It was spaced out enough in the lower level that most stayed sitting all night. If it was full, one person standing causes the next row to stand because they can’t see, and the next etc. that didn’t happen.  That was the only negative as that directly affects energy and engagement of a crowd

    uppers closed

Billy being Billy I thought he would have an issue with it. He didn’t let on though, so good for him. Everyone there had a good time

Do you think it was loud due to lack of audience absorbing some of that sound, or did they just crank it up?

I’ve always absolutely hated billy corgan. I can’t help but to laugh a little looking at the ticket sales.

It was cranked up to 11.  No doubt that was by design.  It was clear from the opener  (Poppy) who screams a lot

That puts a PJ show at about 7

they had some artificial electronic bass generation going on off stage as it wasn’t the drum kit or bass on stage. It was more the highs though being that loud but there was clearly a wall of sound type of setup

Uggh. Was it Dinosaur Jr. loud? I won’t be able to take that again.

Bring ear plugs.  Making PJ seem like an acoustic set is the only comparison I can think of. Never seen dinasour jr.

I really like a lot of their stuff, but yeah, just a tremendous douchebag.  Even their hometown show at the United Center on a Saturday night looks to be maybe half sold.....crazy.

61 black vinyl box sets remaining
    531 autographed ones.

    Moving slowly, but moving

I think they need to hurry up and sell out (im not volunteering) as I highly doubt we get another archive announcement while these are still hanging around. It’s roughly the same people buying all of it and the new album probably can’t compete with an archive so that will guarantee it sits even longer

yah... I think the reason that pumpkins went from a band that could sell out full size nhl/nba arena's to a theatre/small arena level band was two fold.  The first was Billy's phased where he didn't want to play any of the music off the first albums, which kind of made people not interest in going to shows.  The 2nd was he's a bit of a douche.. lol.

I still love the music, and since they play early stuff again I'm eager to go.

I find it hard to plunk down that money for the new album before I found out if I like it or not.  I still feel ripped off by the new tool album, when the put it out in an uber expensive boxset, only to rerelease it as a 3lp version a few months later.

Maybe I'll buy the standard version of the album when it comes out.
