The number one slot should be filled in by the original poster already. The question should be, who are the number 2, 3, 4 and 5 bands of all time. Anyone who doesnt put the Beatles at number one is delusional and should seek medical help immediately.
1 is easy as I said, but 2-5 are difficult to pin down. most influential or best as in your personal favorites?
Personally I think the Beatles shouldn't be automatically number one. The Beatles didn't influence me directly at all.
Just because the Model T was the 1st Ford, doesn't it make it the best one ya know?

The one thing you cannot take away from the Beatles is the fact that their entire catalog of music.. whose musical styles ranged from 'She Love You' to 'Helter Skelter'... from 'Yesterday' to 'Revolution'... All of that was done in a period of 7 years... all completed before the age of 31 (John and Ringo were only 30 when the band ended).
I guess, in order to understand the Beatles... you shoulda been there.

Something else.. if there wan't a Model T (which wasn't Ford's First Car.. it was the first one mass produced)... and no one else invented the assembly line... only a few of us could afford the limited number of hand made cars.
