I've just watched 'doubt' and the acting from all is absolutely brilliant. It's rare to see a film like that with a simple storyline but carried by a great script and fantastic acting. But, of course, Streep steals the show... she completely transformed into her character.

She very rarely doesn't become her character. One of the BEST all time.

She's one of those that , For me , if shes in it , It's worth seeing. I don't need to know anymore about it.

I thought about it and all the people I love (Jodie Foster, Jessica Lange, Laura Linney) and, nope. Meryl wins.

I agree... I don't think I've seen a film of hers that I didn't like  although I've a feeling I did, none springs to mind.

She's one of the few, and possibly the only one, who's up there with the great male actors. She always becomes the character and yet, in interviews, still seems like a lovely lovely woman.

Iralle, I agree about Jodie Foster, she's fantastic too... but still nowhere close. I still usually see her as Jodie Foster... rather than the character  . I think Cate Blanchett is wonderful and has potential to be one of the greats.

    no. absolutely not.
seriously, i don't think there is any actress who is even on par with her, nevermind being superior at the craft of acting. of course, just imo...but none the less....it definitely seems she is more than deserving for all the accolades she receives, and i dare say she doesn't get enough, it's almost always *expected* of her. she deserves every word of praise!

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

wow.....in your world NO one gets to make a bad call or two? or, in her mind...maybe it was just fun? i haven't seen it, don't care for muscials...but for what it is, i heard she was excellent in it. hell, colin firth was in it, love him! seriously...that's a bit too stringent imo, besides which.....her amazing talent has and continues to be expressed many times over in soooo many films. she also did she-devil and death becomes her......and yet, i still think there's no denying her amazing, enormous talent.

and on, and on, and on......yea, a couple of throwaway roles i can certainly accept from such a talented actor.

    are you serious?
have you met her personally to make this assessment?
i honestly have never read a thing that would make me think she is arrogant, not in the least...thus why it surprises me so to read this. and, even if she is arrogant...i highly doubt she is the most arrogant.

beyond that, arrrogance or no...her talent speaks for itself.
