How is it that the old board still pulls more viewers?

At any given time there are still 80 to 100 people viewing the old board, and a few of them are logged in. But here is about half that. What's the deal; that board has been closed for like 2 weeks now. :?

beating a dead horse i guess, it's sad, i don't know how many people on the old people weren't in the tenclub but why not give a chance to another great forum like the red mosquito if you don't want to pay the subscription? i'm a member over there too but i spend 99% of my time here, but i'm sure it's a great place.

I always accidentally visit the old board out of habit. If I'm bored and suffering the net, I type in forums.pearljam.com without even realizing that it is the url for the old board. As soon as it loads I notice what I did and get slightly annoyed

Maybe searching for old threads? It's easier to do there or at least it seems to be.

But, it is over. In the past. No longer being updated. Kaput. It's out of business. Doors are closed. Windows are boarded up. Rats are taking over the place. Hooker are turning tricks there. Electricity has been turned off. The septic system is backing up. It is a cesspool. Has been moved to a new location. Toxic waste. Hazmat suits required. Dangerous mold. Infested with pigeons.

For all those reasons, people should stop going there.

I never expected the Alt Pit to be anything that earth shattering. It is just made up of a few who are not 10C members....and they are bitter. Also, it is like when a network show leaves ABC/NBC/CBS for HBO, the first thing they want to do is say Fuck. Well, kinda like people who used to post here pretty exclusively, now are away from here and all they want to do is start threads and talk about things that would have gotten them banned from here. Yeah, classless for sure.

We hit the 120 mark on 1/15/09. At any given time the old board has that in just people viewing. :?

Some folks made an 'alternapit', made a very nice job of it, yet without someone to keep the lunatics in line it is just descending into chaos...or ridiculous, childish smutt, whatever you want to call it :roll:

i joined over there, but haven't actually read or truly visited...so no comments there. only thing to say is, overall..that's what always seems to happen with unmoderated and/or not well monitored boards. i find, in time, most of these self-run fan-boards actually become more board-nazi, and more mods than needed - people get power hungry and talk about cliquey!, than ever at the official pj bbs's. thus why i am always happy to be here. no one is perfect, but i think kat/sea do an excellent job overall in trying to maintain a good atmosphere/balance.

i disagree with this. i find boards like RM and pearljamboots.com to be hardly board nazi at all.
