Saw in the morning paper that the winning coach got canned by the school.

the better team won and they won by alot, big deal. its not their fault, nor the coach's that their opponent sucked. the whole idea of mercy rules is stupid. look at the lions this year 0-16 was someone supposed to give them a win so they didnt look pathetic? sports isnt about making other people feel good about themselves, its about feeling good about what you can do. and its about sucking up failure and moving on to the next challenge. but winning 100-0 has to feel pretty good.

i wonder if this would be a big deal if the final score was 99-2 instead - its just the 100 and 0 that makes it look ridiculous. the winning school talking about forfeiting the game is just as ridiculous in my opinion. like most things in life there are bad people and assholes all about - don't make it bigger because it is sports here.

Comparing a professional football team to a high school girl's basketball team is completely ridiculous. And if winning 100-0 feels so good, how come the team that won wants to forfeit the game and the school is publicly saying how ashamed it is?

The same school that won this game also lost a game 4 years ago (they had the same coach at the time) 82-6. How come there was no uproar about that? This story has more ramifications than some little basketball game. The winning school is now having trouble getting funding from alumni because of this. There has been so much miss information about this story. The story broke ONE WEEK after the original game had happened. If there was such an outrage why wasn't reported as soon as it happened.

This story has been way overblown.

one has nothing to do with the other plus the school that lost 100-0 is a school for kids with learning dissability's what don't you get ? about that, how is that the same ? ......

i have a question. if its so bad to win 100-0 cause we dont want anyones feelings hurt. why dont they keep kids from getting 100% on their tests if there are kids in that same class failing with 0%?

honestly i dont think anyone should be ashamed, not even the losing team. that takes alot of character to keep playing in such a hopeless situation. they could have just as easily walked off the court at half-time and went home to play guitarhero.

i agree this whole story is overblown. if this is the worst thing these kids are gonna face in their life ill take a 100-0 loss over some of the crap i had to deal with any day.

There are people with learning diabilities on the team that scored 100 points as well. Just because you may have a learning disability doesn't mean that you automatically stink at sports. The best man in my wedding is ADD/ADHD and he was an all state baseball player in HS. His brother, who is the same, was all conference. People made it seem like they beat up on a bunch of girls that had some sort of mental or physical handicap. Nothing can be further from the truth. I saw their schedule and results for them and they lost another game by about 60 points and the team they lost to by 100 lost to another team by 50.

I remember a game coaching third base on my sons little league team and we were up something like 11-1. I held my runners on past balls and told them to just practice getting off the bag quickly and returning to the base(you can score on a pitch that goes past the catcher or pitcher) and made my guys have to "hit to score"...and at least gave the other team a chance. One of my coaches looked at me like "what are you doing?!?!" Parents of the other team knew what I was doing and later thanked me. We eventually won 12-8 ( I put in younger pitchers and anyone that wanted to try, etc) but it could have easily been a massacre.

this story is overhyped if you get all the facts, though
