    Not a word, but a phrase;

"I could care less" - this implies that you must actually care about it as you are able to actually care less, but you don't.
Surely the phrase needed is "I couldn't care less". Meaning it is at the very bottom of your priorities and therefore you don't care about it at all.

I severely dislike it when someone says "I could care less". If you COULD care less, that means it DOES have some higher priority than other things.

I believe the correct statement is "I couldn't care less" because if you could NOT care less, then that means it is all the way at the bottom of your caring priorities.

For those needing it spelled out...

Bob says "I hit my hand with a hammer".
Jane says "I could care less".
Bob says "Thank you, I'm glad there are things that you care less about, so my pain does matter somewhat to you".

Bob says "I dropped a peanut when I was in the third grade".
Jane says "I couldn't care less".
Bob says "yes, I agree, there is nothing less to care about than a peanut I dropped years ago".

    Here's a chart:
    caring.png

Hahaha, as you can probably tell - I totally agree!

Where I'm from everyone pronounced film, 'filim' too - arghh  !

My sister has 2 bizarre pronunciations - empty is 'empfty' and united is 'unineted'.

What is funny is that when I was taking a TEFL class, my British friends heard an American girl say "orient" (as opposed to "orientate") and they had no idea what she meant! They thought she had confused her words, or was talking about the East Orient.

    Axe instead of ask.

Mispronunciations of 'nuclear' drive me nuts too.

But, above all, i HATE when people don't understand the difference between conscience and conscious. Makes me furious. eg: "I was going to burn him, but then I remember I have a conscious."

ME TOO!!!!!!!!! Good one. Thanks for pointing that out.

And, in the same note...I go ballistic when people don't know the difference between their/there/they're and to/too/two oh and your/you're.

    that makes you furious??

here's me irked by some flag waving braggadocio and you can't see why... and yet you get furious about the use of a wrong word?

also... i have to say axe instead of ask bugs the shit out of me.

and thanks to cmjsteak... that chart is now added to my flickr account for all such occasions that someone says "i could care less"

then instead of than... that bugs me.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
