Employment drug screening...

A previous poster suggested using another person's urine.
Just a tip - if you are male - don't borrow a female's urine. I remember reading a story of some guy using his girlfriends urine to pass a test. It came back clean for drugs - but - it also came back positive for pregnancy!!!I wish a guy like Eddie, would like me.0 -

I guess you didn't read that I'd already smoked and was looking for some advice. But thanks for the "tip", regardless of how useless it was. I guess it's the thought that counts..."The dude abides. I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' her easy for all us sinners."0 -

It can be a matter of safety.

Shouldn't they have told you when you got your job that you will be subject to random testing as per your companies policy on drugs?, if they even have a policy on this?
At my work on my first day when I was being inducted I was told that random tests get carried out and that it is company policy that all employees be drug free.
They can't just surprise you this way, if they didn't mention it to you in your induction then you can hit them back with ''it's not company policy to be drug free'', providing you get busted which we all hope you don't.Adelaide 17/11/2009, Melbourne 20/11/2009, Sydney 22/11/2009, Melbourne (Big Day Out Festival) 24/01/20140 -

It was pretty fishy. I interviewed and was hired on the spot, with no mention of the company policy. Then the next day, when I showed up for work, the manager was like, "Oh, by the way, we need you to sign this form and submit for a drug test. Because we will be having one soon." So I signed it, hoping that I would have some time before the test. I'm not trying to justify doing something that's considered illegal. But I enjoy the lifestyle I live and don't really want to change. I kind of felt blindsided by it, I guess.
On a better note, I was supposed to take my test yesterday, but because so many people from work went on the same day, my test got moved back to Monday. So by then it will have been just about two weeks with out any pot. So I'm pretty confident."The dude abides. I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. well that's good newsI woulda just said 'sorry, the only person I share my pee with is my doctor' but I can understand being blindsided... i'd probably sign too  I HATE being put on the spot. I know it's illegal and people shouldn't be doing it... but is there some way of saying that them asking you for a drug test is them accusing you of illegal activities. They should take peoples words that they're living within the law... and if they're not, it's up to the police to police it.. not the employers. Again, I don't do drugs at all... but having to take a drug test is like an accusation and i'm not a bit happy with that.

Many places will allow for a certain amount, because there can be false positives due to food and/or medications. I wouldn't depend on any of those things you can drink to test negative. They are not fail proof. Do some research, on the internet, as to what foods can cause a false positive and that way you are prepared. Don't say any medications cuz they will want to see the script. I use to have to test my clients. I can't remember the foods, but there are many. You could borrow pee...lol!!! I know people who do that. They freeze it and microwave it. Once, though, they overheated it! She told them she had a fever. The tests usually show temperature. It should be around 98.6 degrees.
Good luck. I would bet they use the cheap test. I am amazed a place like Blockbusters uses an expensive one. Even probation uses cheap ones.
Good luck, I would bet you will be fine.

The whole situation sounds kinda fishy... But as I asked before since when does anyone in the restaurant industry drug test? I would dread to see what would happen to the industry if it was done throughout.PJ FANS ROCK!!!

employers have the legal right to drug test employees....
people can bitch, moan, whine, cry, scream and yell all they want....the employer has the legal right to drug test employees...
if someone has to use another persons urine to pass a drug test....or if they have to drink some type of solution that covers-up the dope in your urine.....
then im thinking that person needs to take a good long hard look in the mirror....and maybe think of getting their priorities straightened out.....Take me piece by piece.....

One thing that amazed me in my adventures was tests we used for alcohol use. We used a thing that loks like a swizzle stick and the client just has to get it wet with saliva. Well, my clients swear to me that they would put a penny under their tongue and pass the test everytime. I have had more than one client tell me this. I wonder if it had anything to do with the copper?
Oh yeah, most of the tests they use for drugs now also show if you use any of those drinks to tamper with it. I would never trust those drinks.Save room for dessert!0 -

How are people borrowing other people's urine for tests? You carry it in with you and nobody notices? The tests I took also considered temperature, so they know if it's "fresh"...0 -
Every time there's an incident at my company (which has plants all over the globe), we get a notice posted so we know what happened, and what the outcome "actions' were. A fellow at a US plant had something sharp drop on his hand due to improper packaging (not his fault), and it severed a tendon in his finger. The "action" consisted of "The employee was drug tested and referred to a hand specialist." Seeing "drug tested" throws me off every time. I can't imagine what would happen if the company (manufacturing industry) tried to implement it in the Canadian plants.
I'm still dumbfounded by the attitude toward pot by US authorities.0 -

who keeps his buddys urine...stored in a coca cola 20 oz. bottle...in his refridgerator....
when he has to go take a drug test....he puts his buddys urine in some sort of a balloon or ziploc bag.....and then he puts it next to his car heater as he drives to the drug testing place....then he hides it in his crotch....
walks in and takes his drug test.......
as silly as this fucking sounds........he has done this 20 or so times.....and only got questioned once that i know of.....
pretty fucking pathetic if you ask me....Take me piece by piece.....

What is the problem with testing someone for drugs after an accident??? It is the company's responsibility to ensure a safe work environment for ALL of their employees. So after an accident, that could have possibily been prevented, it is in the company and their employees best interests to take steps to prevent further incidents. That includes seeing if the employee was negligent in anyway (i.e. disabled machine or safety guards, was impaired, poorly trained) or if equipment was faulty in anyway. This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. Please remove it.

It's actually OSHA and DOT policy that after any incident you have to be drug and alcohol tested. That way if the tests come back positive it takes away any responsibilty from the company. My job requires me to work in a lot of different plants around here so I have to get drug tested about once every two months. I can understand if I was actually doing physical labor, but as a financial auditor I really don't see the point. The pain about that is, I've been taking Adderall for about ten years and every time I take a drug test I have to bring in the bottle to show that it's prescribed. You'd think they would keep it on file, but nope. I have to make sure I carry my bottle with me at all times in case of a random. It's all about the music...
