Employment drug screening...

So I just found out that I have to do a drug test for work on Friday. I smoked a bowl with a buddy last Tuesday, and hadn't really smoked in a long time before that. So that gives me 10 days. I'm about 6ft, 185lbs and am pretty active. What do you think? Will I be OK?

    You'll be fine. :)
Push some fluids, try to sweat by exercising or sitting in a sauna.
But really, that shouldn't be a problem.

It depends on a few variables. One, It depends on the type of test they use. A cheap test will show you clean at about 10 to 14 days. A hair test can show as long as 6 months ago. However, the more expensive tests will also show how much is in your system and that will show them that its been awhile. Blockbusters uses the hair test, believe it or not!
Many places will allow for a certain amount, because there can be false positives due to food and/or medications. I wouldn't depend on any of those things you can drink to test negative. They are not fail proof. Do some research, on the internet, as to what foods can cause a false positive and that way you are prepared. Don't say any medications cuz they will want to see the script. I use to have to test my clients. I can't remember the foods, but there are many. You could borrow pee...lol!!! I know people who do that. They freeze it and microwave it. Once, though, they overheated it! She told them she had a fever. The tests usually show temperature. It should be around 98.6 degrees.
Good luck. I would bet they use the cheap test. I am amazed a place like Blockbusters uses an expensive one. Even probation uses cheap ones.
Good luck, I would bet you will be fine.

Yeah, you should be fine. I smoked a J 2 days before I went to boot camp in 2000 and was freaking the next day after I did it. I went and had the drug test and nothing came of it. *Whew* ;)

Also- this is the worst part- I work at a bar!
Seriously, what kind of bar/restaurant tests for drugs?! That's why I stay in the service industry!
I'm pretty sure that more than half of the bar/waitstaff are going to fail, and pretty much everyone in the kitchen.
Things could get interesting this weekend...

Since when is there drug testing in the restaurant industry? I would think the only call for it would possibly be a delivery driver. I know at least half the staff where I work would be gone if they drug tested...2 of the 3 managers as well.

Does anyone else think that drug tests are sort of stupid? I mean why the hell is it my employer's business what I do on my own time? If you hire me and my performance is up to par, then who cares what I do? And don't give me tendency BS answer either because we know that means nothing.

I'll try to find the link, but I read this study where this guy profiled like 250 businesses, those that tested and those that did not, and found that drug screening in the workplace does not improve productivity, doesn't save money, is racially biased and wildly inaccurate.
I think it was one of those pieces of legislation that people backed because "everyone knows drugs are bad!!", not thinking that it is completely in violation of the fourth amendment.

Agreed... it's disgusting. I don't even DO drugs but if I were offered a job where I had to do a drugs test, I'd piss on THEM :D

And in the restaurant industry  where they pay you fucking NOTHING over there... they want your piss?????? Come ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's crazy. We'd have lost half our staff if the restaurant I worked at drug tested... I think I even asked that in the interview and they still hired me! Hell, I can't imagine working a job like that without being stoned... when I quit smoking pot I had to stop waiting tables because I wanted to stab the customers. I switched to bussing tables, no lie. Made more money that way too actually.

I've never passed a drug test, so I can't help you there. But the only time I ever took them was in rehab and I'm guessing they have good ones.

ok... this is what you do.

Eat TONS of poppy seed bagels, which should show up as an opiate... and eat other foods which give other drug false-positives. With all those false-positives, they may just assume the test is messed up. In other words, no one can see a distant-star when the sun is up and shining.

Here's a tip. Don't do anything that can get you fired from a drug screen.

A previous poster suggested using another person's urine.
Just a tip - if you are male - don't borrow a female's urine. I remember reading a story of some guy using his girlfriends urine to pass a test. It came back clean for drugs - but - it also came back positive for pregnancy!!!
I wish a guy like Eddie, would like me.

Shouldn't they have told you when you got your job that you will be subject to random testing as per your companies policy on drugs?, if they even have a policy on this?
At my work on my first day when I was being inducted I was told that random tests get carried out and that it is company policy that all employees be drug free.
They can't just surprise you this way, if they didn't mention it to you in your induction then you can hit them back with ''it's not company policy to be drug free'', providing you get busted which we all hope you don't.

It was pretty fishy. I interviewed and was hired on the spot, with no mention of the company policy. Then the next day, when I showed up for work, the manager was like, "Oh, by the way, we need you to sign this form and submit for a drug test. Because we will be having one soon." So I signed it, hoping that I would have some time before the test. I'm not trying to justify doing something that's considered illegal. But I enjoy the lifestyle I live and don't really want to change. I kind of felt blindsided by it, I guess.

On a better note, I was supposed to take my test yesterday, but because so many people from work went on the same day, my test got moved back to Monday. So by then it will have been just about two weeks with out any pot. So I'm pretty confident.

well that's good news :) I woulda just said 'sorry, the only person I share my pee with is my doctor' but I can understand being blindsided... i'd probably sign too  I HATE being put on the spot. I know it's illegal and people shouldn't be doing it... but is there some way of saying that them asking you for a drug test is them accusing you of illegal activities. They should take peoples words that they're living within the law... and if they're not, it's up to the police to police it.. not the employers. Again, I don't do drugs at all... but having to take a drug test is like an accusation and i'm not a bit happy with that.

For what its worth, you'd have to eat about a room size amount of seeds to get any amount to show on a test. Oh yeah, the old story, "I was in a car where others were smoking" doesn't work either.
