i agree with the mansfield show this past summer...that was classic.

another i have was funny only in retrospect. it was cleveland '03, where ed was walking around during RITFW after consuming the usual bottle and a half of wine, hitting the wings to throw tambourines out, etc., and at one point he just fell STRAIGHT down off the stage onto the ground, and definatly not feet first. it looked BAD, i think we were all a bit worried...the band kept jamming, and he eventually climbed back on the stage. he then got on his knees, started praying, and the guys started cracking up. once we realized he was OK, then it turned into a "man, eddie was so drunk he fell off the stage" story, which is funnier than if he got hurt, for sure.

was there as well, that was a hell of a header he took!

I was there too. We had floor seats dead center but about 19 rows back we watched him then all of the sudden he was gone, just instantly gone....poor guy bit it hard!! We were all worried!!!

Then in Cleveland in 2000 (I think) when Iggy Pop opened up for Pearl Jam someone in the audience pissed him off royally and he just dropped his pants and showed his ass to this guy, and totally made fun of him! it was great!!!!!

A buddy and I went to see Pearl Jam in Toronto(2000)
There was an older couple sitting in front of us...married...55-60years old.
Both of them sat hunched over in their seats with their fingers in their ears, and wearing this excruciatingly painful look on their faces as they complained to each other about THE VOLUME!!!

"Oh my God"!! They said to each other with this utter look of confusion and loathing as if someone had just mutilated a puppy before their very eyes.

Somewhere during the middle of "Even Flow" (Mike's Solo) these stiffs had finally had enough...They got up from their seats, put on their jackets and began to walk out....All of a Sudden...someone beside them hands the woman a JOINT !!!!

The shear look of horror on her face was absolutly priceless...She looked like she was about to scream.

Instead of Screaming...She turned around and smacked her husband on the chest...really hard...As if it was this poor bastard's fault for taking her to this wretched concert with all these drug crazed fans and their satanic rituals of loud music, drugs, and underage sex :)

    It was fucking hilarious...

I mean....who in the fuck did these people think they were going to see that night?

That was a good one. I can totally picture that scene.

My wife and I were on the floor at MSG 2 last year. About 15 minutes before the show started we noticed this skinny guy doing some stretches just outside of the chairs. These mild stretches turned into full-bore wrestling/jujitsu pregame stretches - using the wall as support at times and bending himself into interesting positions to limber up. Jumping up and down, grunting a bit. If I had a jump rope I would've tossed it to him. Honestly, it looked like this guy was gonna try to end up on stage at some point and do his best Napoleon Dynamite dance. My wife and I couldn't stop laughing. It was really bizarre. This pregame sideshow lasted a good 10 minutes.

Finally, he stopped (or was adequately warmed up) and moved to his seat which was exactly 2 rows in front of us. So the band starts and this guy immediately starts going off doing all kinds of death metal hand gestures and bizarre body contortions - totally immersed into his world. Bouncing like a madman. Throughout the show, this spectacle continued and half the time he did these moves not even facing the stage. No, these special moves were done facing everyone behind him. I really thought he was chanelling some secret god.

He didn't seem to sing any of the songs - just used them for his special choreography. Good times.

    omg that is horrifying.

One of the funniest things I've seen at a show didn't really involve the band so much. at Gorge 05 I was next to a couple that was fighting for about 30minutes before the show and through the acoustic set. corduroy came on and the immediately started making out.
"Well, I think this band is incapable of sucking."

During PJ's set Tim Robbins came out. I believe the song was "The New World". Maybe. At the end of the song Ed and Tim were at opposite ends of the stage. They gave each other a look and started running at each other at full speed. As they approached they both jumped to do a body bump like football players do after a touchdown. Tim Robbins, being twice Ed's size, knocks Ed flying backwards and he lands hard on the stage. After Ed got up he said something like "We won't be doing THAT tomorrow night."

On the good side Ed trying to surf the guitar across the stage at SF 3 06. He tucked and rolled at the end to avoid "real injury"

On the negative side ;( the guy getting carried out of EV solo milwaukee " you cant do this to me i am in the 10C" pathetic
"thru extensive negotiations we managed to get the curfew moved back..... we still don't have any time to fu&k around...."

I think the funniest thing I've seen, and I was actually part of it, was during the Bonnaroo performance. The amount of people in line for the pit was ridiculous, so much so that everyone was crowding together to the point where me, along with my friend, and a few of us, were lifted off of our feet and carried for a few feet because we were all so squished together. It was a fun experience, and well worth the 3rd row I got for the performance :-P

one of the funniest/best moment I have had at a pj concert was at bonnaroo. It was right before they were about to let us into the pit and we had been waiting at the front of the line since we were allowed to run to the pit line. tons of people just started trying to cut in and push forward. throughout the day we were this a group of guys i had met the year before at lolla and one of them tell us to lift him up. so we lifted him up and he started yelling an epic speech about how everyone had to stay together and not let anyone past us. it is probably one of those "you had to be there" things

hahaha, dude, i was there, i remember that whole thing, and then at the end how we all were piling in, trying to cut off all the wankers that pushed in front of us who were waiting at least 3 hours.

Slayer @ Reading 06 was rather amusing, these two guys from Chile were waving their Chilean flags frantically going YEAH SLAYER etc. Then these two random English guys got them on their shoulders and started rocking out, was rather amusing.

ACTUALLY THIS IS THE ONE OF THE FUNNIEST THINGS:

Billy corgan singing - call the shots by girls aloud and taking the micky a bit.

But for PJ there are loads of things, like that cow at Hartford, that was funny.

I would have to say for me it would be at Alpine Valley. Some of you may know it could take a while to get to your car and even longer to get out once your in your car. But on they way to our cars after the show, we were walking amongst many down one of the paved pathways to our car. We are surrounded by trees and wooded area and all of the sudden I hear loud breaking of branches and brush being knocked down off in the woods a ways. All of the sudden I hear a voice in the distance say "Eddie! Eddie! I know your out here!" I wish I had what he had that night.

Too hard to narrow it down to one so here is three :D

Oh man.. Philly 05.. when ed mentions the Hershey Mosquito bites.. and then some larger gentlemen flashed ed his boobies, and ed smiles and points and says something along the lines of "Those are much bigger"

Asheville 04 , Smile with stone wearing the Enron nose made me smile.... I think ved didn't notice him until towards the end of the song, and then he finally spots Stone rocking the nose and he gives one of the wider ved grins ive seen :D

but! Recently.. while watching clips from a certain Seattle show ... I noticed ed look over towards stone.. (it looks like he looks directly at his shoe) and then you see him turn his head.. and spit... directly on Stone's shoe. Then you see stone kind of looking down at his shoe like, "ah man, i just bought these!" That in slow mo was the funniest pearl jam moment of my entire life i think :D I laughed for 10 min straight..

Love it!! Some things only happen at Alpine...

For me...either the previously mentioned Stone+Cow incident... or that random dude getting up on stage at St. Paul 2003 singing Lukin. He held his own!!

I took my uncle to Seattle I in '98 and we got there early and stood behind the barrier at the back of where the pit was supposed to be because it seemed like the safest place for him to experience his first PJ show. I was super excited for him. A few minutes later, the band came out swinging and while being smashed against the barrier I managed to turn my head in time to see my uncle's face pushed sideways up into this overweight shirtless man's hairy and sweaty armpit. He couldn't move and looked horrified. For some reason, now that image just cracks me up...

Also, one of those nights- I think it may have been the second- some meat head climbed up the rigging over the mixing board and stood at the very top on a narrow bar playing air guitar through Alive. I'm not sure the band noticed for a while, but they seemed to take an extra long break between songs after that so security could get him down.
