  • I think I posted this article last year but it really epitomizes how I've always thought of ol' Eli.

Super clutch in the biggest of moments, but other than that.....meh:

    Eli Manning Is Profoundly Mediocre

I've always thought he was medicore too.

like I've said many times put him in the Patriots he has a better career. Put him in a dome he has a better career.

Put any quarterback on the Patriots and they're going to have a better career. That is not something that would be mutually exclusive to Eli Manning. A dome? Lots of mediocre dome qb's dude....

    I love this thread.
2 is greater than 1 and y’all suck too
1-7 and I’ve won money on their games each of the last three weeks. Thank you.
Lane Johnson has been playing with a high ankle sprain and still blocked better than our guys
Lane Johnson left in the first quarter today. Jason Peters also missed about half the game. Our quarterback is just a whole lot better than yours. Sorry man. He had a couple great late season runs. But the dream’s over now. Been over for a while.

Im sure as hell gonna miss him though.
I'm talking overall play by Johnson over our guys.
Come on dude. You know it's true. Eli is done. So is this team.
he's done when he says he's done and even then he can still play
    I hear you.

So three year extension at, what? 15M per? I’m not aware of the Giants salary cap situation off the top of my head. What do you think?
    I'll take Ertz over Engram
    Great! I’ll make that trade.

And I’ll also give you Alshon Jeffrey and Wendell Smallwood in exchange for Barkley and Beckham. Deal? Awesome, thanks.
    I'm not crazy
    Oh, okay.
just saying it seems that Ertz makes the important catches while Engram drops them.
Complain about the line all you want. But Eli has two of the best play makers in the league.
and he gets them the ball when he can. but unless they score a long touchdown. then that doesn't help. especially in the redzone when coverage is tight and you can't run or pass because of weak protection
Eli's been in the league a long time. In your estimation, has he been to blame for anything, ever?
i never said anything is never his fault. I'm  saying not everything is his fault. He's been blamed for losses where he gave them the lead late in the 4th.
Can you name one? 177 pages of this thread. I think it would be super hard to find you saying anything critical of the guy.

I've said when he didn't do well. I just don't say it everytime. I know he's the one everyone blames. And the qbs get the w-l records. So no matter how great he performs. If the Giants lose it goes against him.

Jesus, why the constant demand to make id blame Eli for shit. Every QB has faults, give it a freaking rest. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. (realized that came off rather hostile, sorry).

Well, gents...perhaps I'm guilty of waxing a bit nostalgic as the career of my all time favorite Eagles opposing quarterback appears to be closing in on a glorious sunset.

Here's to hoping for a 3 year extension. Long live Eli.

  • Eli has his hand in this shitshow as much as anyone. Maybe more.

His eyes are looking at the pass rush and he freezes like a deer in the headlights at bad times. His line is woeful, but they're not bad every single time. When given the opportunity to throw, Eli's lob shots are off the mark and sputtering. He has elite skilled positional players around him.

He's had a great career, but if people are being honest... he's finished. He simply hasn't aged like the other veteran QBs producing at an elite level. He's neither mentally nor physically capable.

His leadership is not great either. I'm not sure if someone was serious with the player/coach comment or not? That dopey expression he displays with drool falling off his bottom lip hardly qualifies as inspiring.

Again... a great career. A horrible finish to it that doesn't take anything away from what he managed to achieve when he could play.

I honestly don't get what your point is anymore.  Does Eli stink now? Yeah.  Will igotid go to the mattresses with him?  Oh yeah and good for him.  Does the fact that Eli has had a streaky career take anything away from the Super Bowls? Does it change anything for you that Nick Foles is a crap QB?

We get it.  Eli is done. He is 37 years old.  He's also been part of 2 of the most fun runs most sports fans will ever see.

But has the career been "great" in relation to the era he's played? Or has it been mediocre-good with two obviously great/amazingly clutch performances in the post season? Overall stats do not suggest "great," especially when compared to his peers.

OR do those two SB's just make the whole thing great irregardless of everything else? It's an interesting question. I've been fascinated with this guy's career for a long time.

Here's his comparable players.  Seems about right.  There have been a lot worse and have been better.  The Super Bowls kinda make everything great.  You just experienced one. They're fun.

Yeah that's a good list. Tough to compare different era's, though, because this sport changes so much.

Rivers and Roethlisberger are perfect players to compare him to actually since they all came out in '04.

Eli's career compared to above in my opinion:

better than: Brunell, McNair, Romo, Bledsoe, Palmer
Equal to: McNabb (although I understand the 2 SBs may trump McNabb), Roethlisberger
    Worse than: Kelly and Aikman
    can't compare to Bradshaw

No way he was better than Bledsoe.  The others I agree with.

I don't really disagree with that.  But generally, we are talking about pretty good quarterbacks. And 2 SBs

Gonna go igotid here real quick, buuut Aikman had a pretty pretty decent offensive line.
