Good stuff, I'm suprised you know the network answers, perhaps you should pursue a career in networking.
Thanks, I've been taking that into serious consideration, seeing how it's my best class and, imo the most interesting one
I simply adore cables and hardware :p, maybe a little backhand programming in Perl

I don't know any Perl, but seriously web development has many more opportunities. My company hires web developers all the time, but hardly ever needs network people. We have about 3 network people to 100 developers.

I love networking too, I went to school for CCNA, I didn't finish the exams but I learned it all anyway. Still, I've been here for almost 9 months waiting for an opening in technology ops and I don't think I will get it if it does open. If I was confident in my JavaScript abilities I could be making $35/hr right now.

Well, yeah, but that's why we learn every aspect of what could be IT.
Going from CCNA (how cool is that) to Multimediatechnologies, to programming, to webtechnology(we're seeing php right now), databases, statistics&quality, ethics, and so on ...

So we're basically ready for anything, once we've graduated(with ccna cert.)... apart from some deeper understanding in the field you will actually work in.

    Thanks for the tip anyway

That's interesting, there are many IT fields, too many to count on your hands, and many people are not able to cross fields. It's good to have that knowledge though.

I have 3 primary areas of interest, Networking (Strongest), Building/Repair (Middle), Programming/Web Development (Weakest).

Just don't ask me to configure Active Directory or set User Permissions.
