moving email messages from PC to mac

i just got a macbook last week and am having trouble moving my old email messages that were stored on my PC.

i was using earthlink's program on the PC for checking my mail, and have a bunch of saved messages in it. i exported them as both CSV and DAT files, tried both into the Mail program on the mac but no dice.

i was able to get my address book (saved as CSV) transferred into my contacts on the mac. but i can't get the email messages over. i can't find a converter that allows mail to recognize them (i.e. mbox format). i looked on the apple discussion board and searched and others have had the same problems, but with no suggestions for help.

does anybody know of a converter that would make a DAT or mail CSV file able to be imported into mac mail? i saw something as well about uploading the old messages to the email server via IMAP, but i've no idea how that would work in terms of keeping stuff in the folders i have organized.

can you copy them and save them to your hard drive?

i was able to save them in CSV and DAT formats. is there some other way i can export them? those were the only options the scourge earthlink would let me do :(

no :( i'm gonna see if i can install a trial version of outlook on my old PC and convert the old mail in some other format that mac mail or entourage can recognize. i suppose worst case scenario is forwarding all the old messages to myself just a pain cuz i have bill receipts and stuff i like to keep filed so having all the old messages are convenient. as long as i can do a search if i'm lookin for something in particular, then i should be alright. presuming it works lol

have you tried the thunderbird solution? (that sounds weird....like if you drink shitty wine your email will magically move....:p)

getting drunk sounds like a great option at this point haha

i tried thunderbird but it wouldn't recognize those formats either. i'm heading towards night train territory at the rate i'm going lol
