Kevin Costner
Bill Pullman
Jackie Mason
John Candy
Jackie Mason was in Caddyshack 2 ... not that he was in the original Caddyshack ... but, the idea that he was in that awful piece of garbage makes me want to hurl.

But I was following the rules of this thread and since he wasn't in part 1, he's golden.
Hah, this is true, although of course he was in the lamest of the original 3 Indiana Jones films.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
I don't have a problem with sequels. But then, I read a lot of serial fiction (hard boiled detective novels, fantasy trilogies) and am always happy to revisit characters I love.
That said, the POTC movies were uniformly terrible after the first one. A key to making a successful sequel is to not alter the tone or the characters. The first POTC was a classic high adventure tale with a deliciously morally ambiguous character (depp) and an amusing melodramatic romance. The next two changed the tone completely... depp became a comic parody of the initial character, dropping any pretense at cold-hearted scheming, the romance became heavy and angsty, and rather than a fun action tale it became weighed down by ham-handed attempts at social commentary.
That said, if the next one can return to the joy of the original, I won't fault depp for doing it.
But for a good guide as to how to do a sequel right, see the godfather 2 or toy story 2.

Oh, come now - Last Crusade was superior in nearly every way to Temple of Doom, from supporting cast to script to general plot. Especially supporting cast, and it's not because I'm a huge fan of Sean Connery (even though I am).

You might be right, I haven't see any of them for years and was never a fan of the films, it was just my understanding (perhaps I was confused) that it was the worst.
Anything with River is worth watching tbh.

he's a crappy actor and has done several sequals ... (Matrix, Bill & Ted)
Yes, I realized that after I posted this..but was too lazy to edit it. How could i forget those crappy Matrix movies and Bill & Ted. For some reason Speed came to mind.

I didn't really mean to be that blunt about it. I just really, really don't rate Temple of Doom very highly. But Raiders and Crusade are classics, and you have no soul for not loving them with every fibre of your being.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
He maybe 100% pure cardboard, but for some reason, I still love him!
When Matrix Reloaded came out, I decided to go to Best Buy's midnight madness release...when I got there, the line was hundreds of people long, surrounding the store. As I walked past the front where they were doing contests, I heard the question, "what was the name of Keanu's character in Point Break?" and I yelled JOHNNY UTAH! That got me right inthe front door!

whether an actor has done a sequel or not is irrelevant ... it's about their performance in each movie ...
sure ... but is it relevant to whether an actor is good or not?
