Worst Week Ever for Boston Sports

  • I had a buddy of mine at our house who was a Pittsburgh fan during the Eagles Super Bowl, and he's a little bitch. Though I like your outlook, I hope you didn't go nuts in their house did you? Because the dude who was at my house acted like a snobby bitch the whole game, especially when the Eagles lost and I told him to leave. What sucks even more is after he acted like a douche at my house, he calls me the next year from Pittsburgh after the Steelers won. I was going to drive 5 hours just to go shove a foot up his ass. I mean that's just not right.

Oh, my friend, you people are quickly rising.

I'm an Eagles fan and even I was routing for the Giants in that SB. Looking back on it, it was the greatest upset in the history of football, and possibly sports. And, I hate to say it, the greatest Super Bowl ever.

Honestly, Eagles fans are pretty bad.

I remember going to a Red Sox Phillies game in 2005 at Fenway and the Phillies got killed 12-1 so drunk Phillies fans started during the E A G L E S chant at Fenway late in the game. And Red Sox fans didn't boo they just laughed and yelled wrong sport and held up two fingers for their two titles at the time.

I saw the same thing when the Sixers were getting pounded by the Rockets in Feb. 2005. Of course the Sixers are low on the totem pole there, so they might have been doing the EAGLES chant even in a close game.

True but chanting that in the city of the defending Super Bowl champions is kind of sad. ;)

No, that doesn't go for everyone. E-A-G-L-E-S has a place. And it's after "Fly Eagles Fly" after TD's at the Linc or at EVERY SINGLE MOMENT I'm wearing an Eagles jersey at away games in a swarm of Eagles fans. This year Seattle! Wooo!!

Yeah, but at other sports is just stupid.

I wasn't a big douche. I did jump up when Burress scored though. It was more the fact that I was happy that all the "best team ever" and "best QB ever" talk would stop.

It's a little different in your case because I had to see Pats fans celebrate 3 times before they lost. In your case the Eagles hadn't been to a Super Bowl in 20 years so I could see why you wanted to give your friend the business end of a foot.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

I vividly remember going to the "Toilet Bowls" in the early 80s at Schaeffer Stadium (or whatever it was named) watching the Patriots vs. the Baltimore Colts in front of 12,000 fans on aluminum benches. Sharing my first beer with my dad when I was 14. Those were some days. But us Pats fans have paid our dues for sure. As for Brady being the best QB ever, well if he wins another SB I think there'll be legitimate talk that he's in the top 3 for sure. And he's already a first ballot HOF'er, while Eli has a ways to go.

That stadium was a shit hole wind tunnel. I haven't been to a game since 2001 but I'll be making my first trip to the new stadium next week to see me Dolphins lose to the Pats.

I do agree with you that there are some diehards out there. I've been to games, just like you, when there were 20,000 people in the stand and that wind was ripping off of Route 1 and you could barely feel your ass from those stupid medal bleacher seats.

Then again, that's my whole point. The Pats fans that talk the most shit are the band wagoners who couldn't tell you who Steve Grogan is. That drives me nuts. Back in the 90's I knew a bunch of different people who were fans of different teams (Broncos, Bills, Seahawks, Bears). Now the majority of them are Pats fans, that wear Pats jersey's. It makes me want to fucking puke.

Yep, lots of posers out there. Admittedly, I was off the Celtics bandwagon for a while when they got bad, and just recently got back on. So I see your point. BTW, Stanley Morgan is one of my all-time favorite Pats players. Grogan to Morgan....pure magic.

I got off the NBA bandwagon in the mid-late 90's, not cause the Celtics sucked. It was because the NBA sucked. I did watch a lot of the games this years and cheered for them but I wouldn't say that I'm a huge Celtics fan. That said, I have always been a big Kevin Garnett fan. I've always enjoyed watching him play the game.

Yeah if it's above AC shore-wise then New York can keep it. Even though LBI is more Philly than NYC.

  • Awwwwwwww....you poor Boston sports fans. Such a tough week.......

Like the column Bill Simmons The Sport Guy on espn.com wrote, the only way to go for Boston sports fans is down. Never want to see a guy get hurt, especially a guy like Brady, but it happens.....
