Worst Week Ever for Boston Sports

Exactly. That's partly why I say it. And of course the other part because it's true.
Also, no matter how many SB's the Pats win they'll never be the Yanks of the NFL because that goes to Dallas. And I like how you differentiate between Pats and Sox fans as if they're separate entities.0 -

He did hit the go ahead homer and got a curtain call the night before.

The Yankees have had the highest payroll in baseball forever. The Patriots certainly have not. They're known to be thrifty spenders (i.e. your boy Asante Samuel). Not sure I can agree with the comparisons. Kraft is a well-liked figure not only in sports, but in business in general. Hank Steinbrenner is a loud-mouthed buffoon. Sure, there maybe some obnoxious fans, but that's with every city. I went to Tampa for a Pats vs. Tampa game and experienced some of the most rudest bastards anywhere. Don't get the Yanks/Pats comparisons except for both being dominant for so long (well, Pats in the very short 21st century and the Yanks are quickly becoming irrelevant in the 21st century). This should have been sent to Stone is God, actually.model role model0 -

In my mind they are.
Sox fans are still jumpy after all the WS wins and still freak out after 1 loss.
Pats fans feel that it's their right to win the Super Bowl every year and that losses to opponents are "flukes" or have something to do with an act of God. They can't accept that the other team was better on that day and everything that comes out of the mouths of Pats fans has an "if" or "but" in front of it.I'll ride the wave where it takes me.0 -

The only good thing about the Phillies is that Hammels has that hot wife Heidi from Survivor. Yeah, J-Roll! Gold Glove candidate.model role model0 -

Don't they all have hot wives? That's kind of redundant.
And yes, Rollins does have a gold glove.0 -

Just talking about the fans, not the organizations. I have every respect for Bob Kraft with what he's done. He's taken a shitty team and a shitty stadium and turned it into, basically, an empire.I'll ride the wave where it takes me.0 -

nothing fluky about a guy catching a ball on the top of his head with like 45 seconds left in the game? Hey, the Pats were the underdogs in 2001 and they weren't exactly heavy favorites with Carolina, so not sure the analogy of feeling "it's their right to win every year." Hell, I'm still shocked about 2001 and that was 7 years ago. Not that I thought they didn't have a chance, but how much St. Louis laid and egg. And yes there are comparisons with the Pats of 01 and the Giants of this past year. Hey, they won the game, I have no problem with that. The Bears killed the Pats in the mid 80s because they literally were the superior team. No problem. But do I feel the Giants were that much superior than the Pats this past sb? No. They were (Pats) just simply ill-prepared. And Yanks fans are the worst around.model role model0 -

Oh, my friend, you people are quickly rising.
I'm an Eagles fan and even I was routing for the Giants in that SB. Looking back on it, it was the greatest upset in the history of football, and possibly sports. And, I hate to say it, the greatest Super Bowl ever.0 -

I understand. You have to understand that being a fan of another football team in this region it gives me a certain perspective (especially because my team is fucking terrible). Many Pats fans that I know are convinced that the 02 SB win was akin to splitting the atom as fan as the game plan was concerned. The Pats had played the Rams tough in that season (I was at that game) as the Giants did to the Pats last year.
If you ask a Pats fan about last years SB they'll say they beat themselves but if you ask them about the 02 SB they Pats won it as opposed to the Rams beating themselves. Pats fans killed Rams fans for saying that but 6 years later they were doing the same thing.I'll ride the wave where it takes me.0 -

You have no idea how good that was. I was at a house with 20 Pats fans and the silence of the house (besides me) was one of the most priceless moments I've had as a sports fan.
My friend basically said to me, "Please leave. I love you like a brother but if I have to see you dance after this I'm going to punch you."I'll ride the wave where it takes me.0 -

I had a buddy of mine at our house who was a Pittsburgh fan during the Eagles Super Bowl, and he's a little bitch. Though I like your outlook, I hope you didn't go nuts in their house did you? Because the dude who was at my house acted like a snobby bitch the whole game, especially when the Eagles lost and I told him to leave. What sucks even more is after he acted like a douche at my house, he calls me the next year from Pittsburgh after the Steelers won. I was going to drive 5 hours just to go shove a foot up his ass. I mean that's just not right.0
