eh..that is bad..I remember my grandmother used to say colored and I thought that was bad. It's a generational thing too I think...they have certain stereotypes and it sticks.
'coloured' was the 'acceptable term' back then... I don't think it makes her racist or stereotypical... she probably thinks she's still being pc :D

try reading some books from that era  it's funny some things they say that are completely unacceptable now.

When i was a really young kid i used to talk to my grandmother and her sister's and their comments were always really racist, it was just the way they were raised, they were'nt bad people. I remember one time my gran's sister asking me if i liked athletics as it was television. She then said she didnt mind it but there far too many 'darkies' now and that the javelin suited them because they were used to chucking spears. It made for interesting listening some of the things they used to come out with!!

I gotta admit I fell into the same stereotyping straight after September 11. I caught a plane about a week after and this Arab man sitting across from me got up to go to the toilet and I like everyone else on the plane were freaking out until he returned to his seat. Looking back now it was a ridiculous over reaction

I think a lot of people were like that. I probably would've acted the same way..not proud of it but Im sure I would have. :o

We were in Turkey when it happened and had to fly home a week later. We joked about it... but I think the fact that we were surrounded by Muslims when it happened kinda softened the blow of getting on a plane, which sounds weird. But yeh, there was a lot of nervous joking on the way home. After a couple of hours I said, half jokingly, 'for all we know we could be about to fly into the whitehouse' although I'm sure we woulda known since it would have added probably another 6 hours onto the flight :D and my sister wanted to know how much the inflatable planes were... and she asked accidentally for 'one of those blow up planes'

After Sept 11th I swore I would never fly. That sounds ridiculous now but it was so upsetting seeing all that play out.

The reality is it was probably the safest time ever to fly with security being at an all time high...but no way I felt safe at the time and trust me if I hadnt of booked that flight months earlier no chance I was flying anywhere at that time

I'd say there are plenty of people who haven't flown since.

    I haven't...but that's because I haven't had the opportunity. I almost went on trip.

  • My favorite ones are the ones that go against each other if you add them together.

Like the English all talk like cockneys and all dress in top hats and such. That and the belief that they all still have this stiff upper lip, emotionless, aloof attitude. Thrown in with the world dominating heartless bastards some people refuse to get off of.

Well yeah. When other people fear and hate white people, it is just referred to as "common sense". Just ask my Cherokee ancestors.
