all i care about now is keeping Halladay, Lee and Hamels and the offense healthy and sharp for October. i'm just enjoying the winning.
and as for my hiatus i couldn't resist pointing out such irony. but i still don't feel the need to argue here anymore. at least until october. enjoy.
the lineup is still worse than last year's version that shit the bed. even though they are the favorites (2:1 to win the WS right now)...this team is far from a lock to win anything.
cautious optimism boys. philly teams historically suck balls as favorites. actually, think about it...has a favored philly team EVER won a championship? I can't think of one
1983 Sixers
1974-1975 Flyers
I didn't think the sixers were favored vs LA. Wasn't sure. Even if so they were only slight favorites. I didn't think the flyers were favored in either of their cup wins. I know they werent against boston
point being, even if it has happened, those occurances are few and far between0 -

I will say that he does hit well in this park. always has. hopefully he can get going. he's really not having the best year offensively. they are going to need him in the playoffs0 -

I think the Sixers were favored in 77, 80, 82 and 83, and finally came through in 83.
75 Flyers were clearly favored as defending champs with (critical) home-ice adv over the up-and-coming French Connection Sabres.
I'm sure the 29 A's were big favorites after blowing away Ruth, Gehrig & the Yanks in the pennant race.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

2000 flyers was the worst of all of the letdowns IMO. I can't even talk about it0 -

2000 Flyers choked and lost a big lead, but I didn't think of them as being "favored" going into the Devils series. They had a history of struggling vs. the Devils at that point, and it was quite shocking when they were up 3-1. Still, you're right, it's easily in the Top 5 worst sports moments I can remember.

1991? no way. anything with buddy ryan and randall cunningham involved shouldn't be considered a letdown
also, 2 of the 3 flyer losses in 2000 ECF final 3 games were at home. that series was the worst. it was like getting kicked in the balls for a week straight0 -
considering this town has 1 championship in the last 30 years, favorites and underdogs alike have struggled mightily.
it is officially hitting season gentlemen.
best offense in league since july 1st too.
told you there was nothing to worry about.

it was Rich Kotite, and Randall missed 63 of 64 quarters that year. We were treated to Brad Goebel and Jeff Kemp at QB. And the #1 vs. rush & pass D was wasted. ARRGGH. I still remember the fucking Cowboys celebrating in the endzone after a punt return TD in the 4th quarter. :evil:Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Good job for Halladay gutting through 7 innings today.

it was Rich Kotite:
Even more reason not to be disappointed
I'm glad the giants aren't seeing halladay this weekend. That means they wont see him at all this year. I think that helps the phils come playoff time0 -

hitting season.
4 weeks of stats means nothing
they didn't hit at all vs the giants last week (except for zito...but he won't be around come playoff time)
just saw that the phils have a losing record this year vs the 3 other NL playoff teams (if season ended today). not sure if that's true, but it's surprising0 -
having the best average in the league and scoring the most runs in the league over a 4 or 5 week period means something. it does not mean everything. but for a team who was in the bottom tier in these categories for the previous 3 months, it means things are trending upwards. and with the addition of pence it means things have a good chance of even getting better. this isn't rocket science.
hitting season is upon us, as predicted. enjoy the ride.Post edited by The Juggler onwww.myspace.com0
