Did book a perfect viewing of The Odyssey..had to go to nearly mid August to get mid section, nearly center, seats for the 70mm.
Figured since it is the first of its kind I want to see it in the best possible way for first time.
Have to drive about 80 mins to one of the only 25 places showing in the US.
Just a movie, and a story we know super well, but the whole concept of how they made this is fun to look forward to.
(O Brother was still an amazing adaptation)The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -
I feel like I enjoyed this more than a lot of people, judging from what I've seen. I thought it was super creepy and interesting! With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
Last night. They gave these posters out.
I am an avowed Nolan fanatic, but I was admittedly on the fence about this, after the trailers had Tom Holland say "my dad is coming home" and Matt Damon yelling "let's goooo" on the beach.
It was SPECTACULAR.
Nolan did things in this movie that he's never done before. 3 sequences in particular were straight-up horror movie stuff/nightmare fuel.
The sheer scope of the movie is something that only he could pull off. He's certainly the only one that is even trying these days. It's crazy that he did it with almost all practical effects, forced perspective, & actual shooting, & not green screen like my beloved MCU.
I remember reading a Reddit comment saying that Nolan cast an actual Cyclops lolololol.
It's absolutely a Top 5 movie for him, probably Top 3. Could be 1. My buddies say it's his best. My brother couldn't go last night.
May your days be long, til kingdom come.0 -
Nice! I’m now hyped for tomorrow morning! I’ve barely seen a trailer, so super excited for what I’m going to see.0

Wow what a spectacle , immersive absolutely gorgeous looking/ acted film… a throwback to real movie making and pushing tech and technique into the future… I was glued the whole time, standing ovation at the end… I love when groups hang after and are in no rush to leave the theatre rather have a discussion…. Nolan is on other level… the announcements of his next projects are more exciting than 90% of crap they regurgitate in theatres… there are other greats, Denis , Tarantino, Fincher and a bunch more but he’s as close to a sure thing… just read it again and it was great for me…. Just the movie i needed at time I needed it…. Gonna be cool to walk around Dubrovnik next week and kinda feel this vibe… I love it! All the actors were great …. IMAX was so good, the score just brilliant… no real complaints… 1st 15 min a lil slow but necessary… then it just flies and leaves a smile on your face , Hi Heath
To make this extravaganza after the Oscar dominance of Oppenheimer… I watch the making of this film on peacock… cool to see how they shot stuff and rigging on locations
Nolan’s only 55… God only knows what’s next and how many more aw inspiring films are keft
if you can’t tell, I liked it a bit

history-fantasy-action that’s worth the long running time. great opening image and with a lot more visual highlights. Character attraction is most of the time mediocre and story power sticks between minus and plus but to me this case of style over substance wasn’t a significant downer in the movie theater.0 -
He's the absolute, unquestioned G.O.A.T..
Matt Damon asked Nolan how they were going to film the scenes inside the Trojan horse, and Nolan said they were basically gonna improvise.
Nolan & his cinematographer, Hoyte van Hoytema, got in the horse with them, 20 actors or so, and brought an IMAX camera inside.May your days be long, til kingdom come.0 -
Jon Bernthal is hilarious… I just can’t stop always thinking of him from Wolf of Wall St… pumping iron in the front yard with a wife beater, and asking bout that kids sister 😆 … he’s a really good actor but that is burned in my brain
My friend caught a screening last night in Pula, Croatia in a Roman Coliseum with thousands of…Foos played there … it’s so amazing … they had a whole production before the show with soldiers and flames … it’s a film festival… I should’ve left earlier 🇭🇷🖕🏼0 -
Whoa. This was pretty spectacular. The final act really brings the journey home from an emotional standpoint and by really drilling down into the themes of the whole movie. Stellar filmmaking, particularly the practical, in camera filming.
Leguizamo is the shit!0
