How is this? Been meaning to take my kids. My son loves old school effects in movies.

The Legend of Ochi isn’t a new E.T. but the old school creature effects and the handmade landscapes are the best reason to see it. If that’s exactly your son’s interest, then it’s even a must-see on a big screen in a theater. The look is very good and pretty unique. The Eastern Europe setting is another plus. The Characters are not that interesting and there is not much story-power. Nevertheless it was clear worth watching it.

Not me going the whole movie thinking that Merlin was Stanley Tucci.

Fun to watch with a crowd. Laughing at Hudson, jeering at Burke, and applause all in the right place. So fun. Definitely not better than the theatrical cut, but fun to see.

I am usually a fan of existential, philosophical movies, but this one just didn't resonate. I did like Mark Wahlberg's performance. Different from mostly everything else I've seen him in.

The new and final Mission impossible

Cannot comprehend how this is what scripwriters and Tom Cruise choose to write and want to make. So fucking bad.

That’s a bummer. I go on Thursday. Read the GQ article about making Mission movies. They openly say that scripts are sometimes written after the fact. Not sure how they pulled together previous outings.

Then atleast have some fun action scenes.

It’s so hard having a movie be ”important” and ”dramatic” when ethan hunt is the main character because he is ”action person” and nothing else. James Bond is also, but that character has charm, wit and sarcasm.

Ethan Hunt is not a character. They tried a bit in the first and third movie. All the others have some passable sections where action happened.

This was convoluted plot shit. The last one was also convoulted plot shit.

Hmm some lingering questions . were we shown too much of Cillian? 🫣 Were his eyes the key to human survival? Was this filmed with a Motorola?

It was some kind of mini digital camera. New one this summer is done on iPhones I think?

Have to set up a screening at home. One of buddies has never seen it. Got to get ready for the new one.

I hadn’t seen it yet and didn’t know what to expect… Interesting. Cillian is always great. Is the 2nd one any good?
