Just looked at it on disney+ to look up a thing about the swedish subtitles and my god that grainscrubbed AI-sharpened mess the film has turned into is just so shit compared to how it looked on the 70mm print.

Went to see Inglorious Basterds in the theatre last weekend. I saw it during it's initial release (2009) and have watched it many times since but seeing it in a theatre full of people cheering and clapping every time a nazi got killed, hurt, or embarrassed was a lot of fun. Especially in todays political climate.

@Bentleyspop Leave the politics in AMT.

Have not watched it there. I do have my blu ray of the quadrilogy. Saw it in the theater upon its initial release when I was 9! I absolutely loved it. Saw it once more in the theater maybe for the 30th anniversary?

Commenting on disliking nazis is too much of a sensitive subject 😂

And how in the world could politics stay out of film discourse

The bluray looks better. And now compared to the 4K abomination people really seem to like the BD.I remember at release people were critizing it for the colour shift, and for scrubbing the natural grain and replacing it with digital grain after sharpening.

Anyways. Aliens is still hokey and worse than both the original and the underrated part 3.

It was the premiere 70mm showing at that theatre. The next showing is Lawrence of Arabia, but I’m not travelling for that one. But let’s hope 2001 or Terminator 2 might show up down the road.

Cool cinema also for being in Sweden:
