Continued my Tarrantino binge last night with Django. Haven't seen it since it first came out. Great film. Waltz deserved his Oscar for sure, but I'm surprised Foxx, Leo, and Jackson weren't nominated as well. You'd think one of them, especially Foxx. Oh well.

I finally got around to watching the new A Star Is Born last night, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I saw the Kristofferson/Streisand version years ago so it was interesting to see what Bradley Cooper would do with it. I thought the songs were really good, and Cooper and Gaga were great together. Gaga was was perfect for her part.

The ending really fucked me up though. When I realised what was going to happen I felt sick to my stomach. We lost a family member in the same way just over a week ago so the feelings are still very raw. I haven’t cried watching a movie since Goose died in Top Gun!

Having nothing new to watch and no streaming, tonight I pulled out The Postman and watched it for maybe the 5th time.  I was curious about the reviews and looked them up.  Almost all bad reviews.  Well screw that, who cares?  I always enjoy this movie.  And the real treat toward the end is the scene with Tom Petty.  Cool!  Sure, from a certain perspective, this movie is not "magnanimous" or "sophisticated" or "complex" or "cultivated" or "high brow", but it's great escapism, and I'm good with it being hopeful in a naive way, simple in it heroism, a bit goofy and certainly adventurous.  Costner is cool enough for me and Tom Petty is in it!  Shove it, critics, I dig this movie!

The acting was fantastic - one of those unexpected good finds, though dark in places.

    It was ok.
just saw this earlier today and i agree with you just ok. Def. not his best work. Although the last 15 minutes were pretty good.

What is it with Quentin Tarantino and his obsession with feet?
I loved it. But it is more a film for filmmakers ... I happen to appreciate that about it, but I can't imagine the majority of the average movie does.
The foot fetish he shamelessly shows off in his movies is hilarious to me, lol.
