Nah, forget the disclaimer - it's more fun to deal with the fallout when it inevitably crashes down around your elbows.

Oh I need them! The elbows! :D For my tai kwon do style solution to the fallout. :p
I actually do sometimes turn the chair around 90 degrees, lean back against the wall, and "rest my eyes". :p Of course, I'm doing this in a hard, wooden dining room chair, so I have irreparable back problems now. :D

Yeah, I fall forward, or my head lolls backwards, either way I end up with crick neck.
    NOPE!!!

Kicking the living shit out of your PC solves nothing, Jeanie. We've been through this. :p

I get that when I'm in early morning college lectures, or afternoon college lectures - I'm just sorta sitting there, then suddenly, my head is REALLY FUCKING HEAVY, and then it's 30 minutes later, and the hall is empty. :D

Yeah, but it's a great stress reliever! :D

Oh I hate that!! I've had times when my sleep patterns have been so out of wack I've fallen asleep in theatres, movies, on trains, all kinds of places really. :o It's embarrassing and a little freaky too.

I fell asleep at the orientation meeting for my last job. :o Nobody noticed, but damn... I mean, it was boring as hell, but I really need to learn either self control, or to like the taste of coffee. :p

My understanding is to get things back to a more acceptable routine, you need to be vigilant about sleep times, going at the same time regularly each night and staying in bed regardless of if you sleep or not for the required amount of time until you do sleep through. Least that's what I have to do.

the doctor gave me this whole thing to read on sleep and this is exactly what it said NOT do to (it's what I had been doing). It said the worst thing you can do is go to bed if you're not tired and lie there sleepless. it said that if you go to bed when you're tired, you won't get as many hours, but you'll have a higher QUALITY sleep. and it also said that if you lie there without sleeping you associate bed negatively.

someone mentioned it earlier but I think one of my problems is that I'm in a deep REM sleep most of the time. I dream long, extensive, dreams every single night, especially when it gets closer to morning, so I'm like lost in my dreams instead of in reality!

you can have your downstairs neighbors getting into a blowout top-of-their-lungs argument when one part of the couple comes in at 3:30AM. That woke me up and kept me up until my alarm went off at 5. :(

So you aren't waking up in the middle of the night. I know I have a problem of waking about 3am and then having trouble sleeping. It's not all the time but i have periods when it happens. I usually get up on time though. I never used an alarm now I have one as a back up.

no, I had that problem for a while but now I'm sleeping soundly.
I always woke up without an alarm too. I don't know what happened.

Have you been tested for sleep apnoea?

I doubt I'd ever associate my bed negatively!! :D I love it FAR TOO MUCH! :)

I dunno, I can see why it might be a problem for others, but once I get in to bed and relax, I'm usually pretty good at going off to sleep and if I'm struggling I usually just take a stillnox. :)

Sounds like your neighbours should move in next to my neighbour several neighbourhoods over with all the other ejiits that don't know how to be respectful of other people's rest.

My neighbour likes me to enjoy Pink Floyd cranked to 11. Usually around 2am when he's most off his face.

no, never been tested for apnoea. don't you snore or grind or something when you have that? I don't snore at all. when I was little I couldn't breathe when I slept and made all sorts of noises, so my tonsils and adnoids were removed.

I love bed too! big part of the problem I'm sure!!

Orgasms induce sleep...so when all else fails... :D

Aside from that the only thing I've found that works for me is progressive muscle relaxation. That works like a charm for me every time.

I think the not breathing part is what sleep apnea is ??? Although different than tonsil issues I am sure.

while sometimes heavier medication is needed at least for a short time, meltonin is a good herbal remedy that calms your system before sleep to be able to drift off without too much trouble.
I would guess that you are not sleeping well at night and that's why you can't wake in the morning like you use to.
I am not sure how old you are, but I use to hear my mom talk about not being able to sleep and I would think "what the hell?" but now, I know what she meant. It is hard to sleep as you get older sometimes because you just start thinking and thinking and you don't even realize it.
Two things that also help. I do not open any mail that I can't take care of (like business mail) over the weekend and I try hard not to think about any serious things before bed. It's really hard sometimes, but I really try not to. Also, I have to always remind myself not to get too busy doing last minute things before bed so that I am so keyed up I can't sleep.
    hope that helps.

    good luck.

yeah i always thought it was the breathing part, and yeah different from tonsils, my tonsil were like 3 times the normal size and blocking my airways. but as far as I know I don't have any breathing issues. as far as I can tell, I sleep rather soundly.

as far as I know I'm sleeping well, much better than I was when I was rushing to get in bed before 10- I stressed myself out about getting up in the morning and it didn't do any good, I still didn't get up. but I should actually be off now...

hmmm.....well I don't know a lot about it but I think it's about stopping breathing in your sleep, so I don't know if snoring is a definite symptom in all cases.

:D Well some beds are meant to be loved. :D Mine is awesome, I just wish I could get more time in it. :)

my wife can sleep 10+ hours, and wake up feeling refreshed and charged. If I do that, I need a nap two hours after waking up, and have Zero energy.
:D me too... 5 or 6 hours is what i need... anything over 7 and I'm groggy and grumpy for the day.

haha well I just recently broke up with someone, I tried to get him to do this when we were together, but he said I "look to cute being all lazy" and he could get himself to do it. Plus he had no power over me :). And we only spent about half the week at each other's places. When I was with him though, I think I overslept because I was barely sleeping at night (no, not because of that) because we never got that good at sleeping in the same bed.

After saying all this stuff of how I sleep soundly at night, last night I totally didn't!! I think it was from watching that Who thing right before bed, too much excitement for bed time.
  • today was brutal getting up...and didnt go to bed all that late either....hmmm

    It emminates from their being!

I have new upstairs neighbours and a ceiling made out of some thin papery substance. Getting to sleep last night was a chore.
  • I am a complete nightmare to get out of bed... Ask Dave :o

Regardless of when I go to bed, if I get up before 8, i'm fine. Getting up after 12, i'm ok. Between those times you might as well put on a tin hat and duck :o
