I hate when people talk about stress fractures..."like who cares you have a fracture"...like I wanna know that...I dont start saying "hey I was in traction last week for breaking my hip."

I believe that one was banned permanently. I thought for sure she'd attempt to come back under a different user name as per usual, but who knows she could be fooling us all..

No joke, you should try it. Place that foot of yours into a great big bowl of salt water mixed with Green Tea..then sit backwards and sing the blues away..

citymouse...have you checked your foot lately? is it swollen?
I wouldn't try green tea, if you need to use a tea for a foot soak peppermint is better...
and the peppermint tea ice cream is good too...in case you are laid up and can't run...then just sit back eat some ice cream...forget about riding your bike, playing soccer, running or having no desire to get up in the morning...
just you know...relax...IF YOU WANT A PLATE OF MY BEEF SWELLINGTON, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE COVERCHARGE.0 -

OH wow I am feeling helpful...
"Women seem to be at greater risk of foot stress fractures than men. This may be related to a condition called "the female athlete triad," which is a combination of poor nutrition, eating disorders, and amenorrhea (infrequent menstrual cycle), that predispose women to early osteoporosis (thinning of the bones). The result of this decreased bone density is an increase in the risk of stress fractures.
High impact sports such as running, gymnastics, and volleyball can increase the risk of stress fractures. In all of these sports, the repetitive stress of the foot strike on a hard surface causes trauma and muscle fatigue. Without the right shoes, good muscle strength or adequate rest between workouts an athlete can develop a stress fracture. "
not wanting to pry - but are you irregular (menstrually speaking) you might want to take calcium.
oh and while you may not want to rest off the running for 6-8 weeks, you can still do low impact stuff...ya know there is always a solution...
"The best treatment for a stress fracture is rest. Taking a break from from the routine and doing some low impact exercise for a few weeks (six to eight) can help the bone heal. If rest isn't taken, chronic problems such as larger, and more persistent stress fractures can develop. Re-injury may result in a chronic foot problem and the stress fracture might never heal properly."
wow, city mouse...it may NEVER HEAL PROPERLY...so..yeah food for thought brah...IF YOU WANT A PLATE OF MY BEEF SWELLINGTON, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE COVERCHARGE.0 -

yeah I read this same thing too! and you wonder why I panicked!
Honestly it really started hurting saturday night after a long run and I really need new running shoes, this is the longest I've ever gone on the same pair. so if I have a stress fracture, I'm guessing that is cause. I don't think I have the osteoperosis thing. but these are just the common causes, really I think there are a lot of ways to get it.
I like your solution about peppermint ice cream! (eating it, not putting my feet in it).0 -

CityMouse, like I said I had a stress fracture several years ago and as I recall it was a frustrating experience because I couldn't do a lot of things for a while. I went to the doctor pretty early but I still sort of tried to act like the problem didn't exist at first. I kept saying, I don't have time for this shit! Eventually I just had to take care of my foot because it hurt too much otherwise. Then somebody even loaned me a cane to help me walk more easily. Even though I felt kind of stoo-pid using it, it really helped and I could walk a lot faster. But it was sort of like holding a sign that said "Ask Me What's Wrong With My Foot"! Also for about a year after it healed it was really good at forecasting rainy weather.
But I know you'll take care of your foot. If it's hurting, you can't help but want it to get better so you'll do what you need to do."The stars are all connected to the brain."0 -
where is the pain in the foot?0
