Horrible Ending To An Awesome Night

So I went to the Neil Young show tonight at the ACC...and it was an awesome show, but unforunately it's not a night that I will remember fondly.
I was on the GO train from Union station to Burlington, but when the train got to the Oakville stop (for those non-Ontarians: Oakville is about midway between Toronto and Burlington) we were informed that the train would not be going any further and that bus connections would be provided for the rest of the route.
People bitched and complained, which is to be expected.
BUT, when everyone was in the line waiting to get on the bus, we were told that the reason for the transfer was that someone had jumped infront of the bus that was on the route prior to ours.
People continued to bitch and complain. About how it's too cold to get off the train and wait outside for the bus....the bus is too crowded...the bus is too slow...
Fuck people...someone committed suicide! Spare me your sob story about minor inconveniences.

Yeah, unfortunately that happens all the time on this route.
It's the Canadian equivalent of the Golden Gate Bridge.
There's even one part in TO where the train goes under a road and it's known as the suicide bridge because people jump from there so often.

their poor family...
That's the worst part. It had JUST happened...the family probably didn't even know yet...and these people are mad that they had to leave the comfort of their train.
It was definitely one of those moments where I lost all faith in humanity.
Although I'm one of those people who empathize A LOT. At funerals I cry because I think of what the family must be going through, not necessarily because of the deceased person. Maybe I'm just over emotional.

actually I get too into it.... in an art history class we were learning about the painting 'The Bath' by Mary Cassatt

and everyone was commenting on the cute child....
the first words outta my mouth were:
"it's hard to imagine that that small child has grown up and lived and now is dead, imagine all the family she left behind..."
they all looked at me like I had said something Satanic!
I guess I overly think of death.
world fucking champs!!!
I find it pretty funny. Its not like it was a murder. This person knew what he was doing. He wanted to kill himself and he did. I feel sorry for the people that have to clean up the mess but not sorry for the dumb fuck that did it.
It's not that I feel sorry for the person who did it, but I think it does warrant people understanding and not flipping out on the bus drivers.
The bus drivers were pulled out of bed at 1:30am so that you don't have to walk home...they didn't push the guy infront of the bus...they have nothing to do with the weather. Stop yelling at them.

put on a slow, dumb show for you
and crack you up
so you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
god I'm very, very frightening
and I'll overdo it'
Well yeah, that's fucked up and the situation was beyond the bus drivers control..why were people yelling at them?

Because they were the easiest source to vent their frustrations too...which happens all too often.
Granted, I might be over-sensitive to stuff like that. I worked in retail all through high school.
The whole problem for me was that these people were mad that their plans were slightly changed...which is not a big problem.
Obviously the person who killed themselves had a problem much worse than a route change.
Get over yourself.
Stop yelling at people who are doing their best to help you.
I just wish that people would think of someone other than themselves once in a while.

As sad as it is, something like this is a risk you take when you take the GO train.
It seems like just by stepping on you agree to being inconvenienced by suicide. It's a constant presence.

Very insightful!
It is good to acknowledge that we all will die. (What was that Flaming Lips song about this topic?) Kind of like a reminder to keep in the moment and pay attention to life.
Yep, that's because they just don't have any clue.

The snap shot judgement comes from those who lack empathy and understanding of why a person would commit suicide! Because they are ignorant as to why someone would commit suicide they buy into the stereotypes about suicidal people!
Last year, I did some voluntary work for a charity called mind and they help people with mental health issues and during my time I met several people who attempted to commit suicide and it was through meeting these several people, listening to them as they opened up about their lives that I realised they were not heinous people, but rather thoroughly decent people who had problems dealing with the stresses and strains of life and who had rough child-hoods that made me want to cry!
One of my friends just moved to London and he was waiting for a train to come into the station when some guy jumped in front of it. Like in happened right beside him! :( The worst part was that all the people around him just kept complaining that he had to kill himself during rush hour :( People are just so disgusting
to end up on one of the cars that where waiting for a red light right underneath the tower.....imagine that, sitting in your car, pompidompidom...SPLASHHHHHCRASH!!!!!!

How do you know their plans were slightly changed or that they were only thinking about themselves. They have families, friends and stuff to attend to. Perhaps they missed a very crucial connexion, perhaps they were going to see a friend who was in dire need etc.
I agree, there's no reason to shout at the people who are there to help you, though.

I don’t care what you say.
Sorry that the evening ended in such a sad way.
