that's exactly what I was gonna post. These guys just can't admit it, because he's their guy. But it's so obvious. the two pictures, plus al the injuries....that's a result of steroid use. Look how Giambi and McGwire had the same knee problem. look at Nomar's breakdown. The muscles get all big and strong, but the ligaments and tendons don't grow as big or as strong, and thus can not supprt the added weight
If anyone has done roids take a look at Manny. That's probably why he wears his uniform so baggy.. (hate to think that) but...
The point is: TONS of guys have taken or are still taking PED's. $20 million per year contracts will do that to a person. Sports are entertainment; athletes are adults; I don't even really care...
If I had known then what I know now...

I understand your POV, but the reason that I care is because guys now have to do that just to keep a level playing field. How many prospects do you think have been passed over and kept in the minors, because their minor league teammates started shooting themselves up and passed over an otherwise far superior player.? Or guys who should have been washed up in their late 30's and retired stick around for a few more years because they've found a fountain of youth? If those guys want to get to the majors, they'll have to start shooting poison into their bodies too. That's why I think it needs to be eradicated from teh game.
looks like a regular power hitter's body to me. if anything maybe he indulged more in the pre and postgame spreads in the clubhouse.

do I tihnk Ortiz could have used Peds ... yeah he could have, but, I really don't think he did ...
He had a wrist injury this year ... it wasn't "all those injuries" as Hellfish stated above, it was one injury, and it's commonly stated that wrist injuries are the toughest to come back from an regain power quickly from.
He had a fantastic 2007, you may see less HRs but it's still his 2nd highest slugging % of his career ... and with the testing, you know it's PED free.

When the first picture was taken, Ortiz hit 31 homers as a 21 year old in AAA. So he always was a power hitter.
This is his other rookie card taken that same season:

Age him 12 years from the above picture and he looks similar today.
There is no dramatic change e.g. Bonds as a rookie to the freak that hit 73 homers.
