Congrats...even the O's fans gave him some love. :)

What O's fans. This place has been Fenway South all weekend.

We're still in disbelief that idiot who caught it gave it up. Eddie Murray's 500 ball sold for 500k.

Manny sure wasn't going to buy it. He must have been a Red Sox fan, an O's fan would've held out for something. Yes I do know Sox fans show up at Camden Yards I'm one of them.

Congrats to him. But when he hits # 600 then that will be something.

I heard he asked a few players to give a video message when he hit his 500. And Alex Rodriguez was one of them. I don't know if they played it there.
The wife and I were lucky enough to be at the game last night for number 500!!! My in-laws live in southern Maryland and had tickets so we went up for the weekend. It was an awesome night. I couldn't believe the number of Sox fans at Camden Yards. Honestly, I would say that for every Orioles' t-shirt I saw ten Sox t-shirts in the crowd and that's a conservative estimate. My in-laws couldn't believe it (they're O's fans). After Manny hit #500, the Jumbotron came up and said "And now something special for the Red Sox fans in attendance" as Sweet Caroline began to play, alluding to the fact that a tribute to Manny was going to begin. The song played for about 30 seconds then the screen displayed "NOT!". I thought this was a bit classless and rude. The whole stadium began to boo and give the middle finger towards the board. It put a little damper on what was a great moment but it was still great to be there!
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

Whats classless about not kissing a division team's ass while we're trying to rebuild. When the Sox roll out of town Camden will be back to drawing 10k a night if its lucky. They can't very well alienate the remaining fan base for Manny Ramirez. 600 is the new 500. Its not that big of a milestone like it used to be. Its a nice moment but hardly worth stopping the game for. That kind of tribute belongs in Fenway no matter how many Sox fans came into Baltimore for the games.

I just thought it was pretty low to act like a tribute was going to play (as many had been speculating for a little while now) then to snub everyone in attendance. It just seemed a bit crass and low class.

Well, it is Bawlmer. Is it really a "snub" to not get to watch some cheesy montage of clips, or whatever you thought you were going to get to see. Manny still got to break the record in what was basically a road home game. Be grateful he didn't do it in Yankee Stadium.

  • I tip my cap to Manny, auctioning off the ball, and donating all of teh proceeds to charity. He's going to turn a baseball into thousands of dollars that will go to cancer research. For the first time, and probably the last time, I tip my cap Manny Ramirez.
