Train Travel To Wash DC

Anyone from the DC area know the stop for the Verizon Center for this DC show. Coming from Delaware and not to familiar with traveling by way of train, but am looking forward to a rockin ass show in the nations capital. Do they run all night ? Will I be able to catch another train after the show? Discuss.

if you're taking amtrak, you'll have to go to union station. not sure which metro line it is from there, but the last amtrak train out of dc is @10 or 11... so that's probably not an option unless you're staying over and can leave in the morning.

Once in DC- take the metro to the chinatown stop- it is the Verizon center- just walk up stairs and you are there. It is not to far from Union Station- you can cab it from there as well.

chinatown is on the redline metro, as is union station, so you can take the metro right from when your amtrak gets in, no problems. However, on Sunday night the metro stops running at midnight, so you gotta move your ass once the show gets out if you want to take it anywhere.

and chinatown isnt the prettiest part of DC. Though it's certainly not the worst.

bigger problem is that amtrak's last train out of dc to de is at 10.

I think the metro shuts down at midnight too, so the last train runs around 11:30ish...

I know one thing , no tailgating in the parking garage for me this time. THAT SUCKED big time.

What about bars and places to go before the show? Like I said , No parking garage for me this time . I dont care if I have to hang out in chinatown. Im not breathing the same air molecules over and over, and over again. Maybe ill go to the gizmo shop and come out with a mogeoui ( mog-why ).

there are a few bars right around the corner... and i am sure the wishlist foundation folks will have a meet spot close by at one of the bars...

Ill find something to do. I wasnt impressed with the accomidations down there last time , but with my feet leading the charge, Ill be ok. Maybe Klausen can come up with a better poster than 06?

I would recommend Rocket Bar. It is across the street from the arena, is pretty big with a lot of open spaces so it is a great place for groups, good beer selection, friendly staff, and you can entertain yourself with pool, darts, shuffleboard, and whatnot. Only downside is there is no food, other than the hot dog cart they occasionally bring out.

Rocket bar is a great time, and they let you order and have food delivered to you there from any restaurant you want. RFD is fun, Clydes is a big bar right next door, fidohs is an Irish pub a block away. Some shady chinatown dive bars, but you may not leave them if you go in. Hooters is right up the street. There are a lot of places.

all right- rocket bar is new, it is in the basement right across the street from Verizon. RFD has been around for a while, it has something like 200 different kinds of beer you can order there.

Back to this DC curfew thing.... If I am taking the metro from DC back to Virginia, is there anything I need to be aware of? Will Pearl Jam be starting this concert early and ending it on time for this curfew? I'm just a little worried, because it will just be me and my daughter going to the concert alone and I don't want us to get stuck somewhere.
