I have found a cheap safehouse to stay for the two camden shows. Could some locals please tell me if this is an OK place to crash? I couldnt believe the rate that I got . Its practically a " steal ". I can finally cross camden, NJ off of my " places to visit " list. Any info would be greatlt appreciated.

Who the hell has Camden, NJ on their "places to visit" list? And this is coming from someone who made the trip to Camden in 2006 to see PJ.

What other cities are on there? East St Louis? West Memphis?

I live in North Jersey, however I have never been in downtown Camden and will not be attending (could only score Hartford Tix). I hear that anything along the waterfront where the ballpark and arena are located is okay. Camden overall is a high-crime area and was the murder capital of the state for a few years running, while Newark and Trenton were close behind. Not trying to scare you, but I would try to keep it close to the venue and not wander too far from the venue/hotel.

A trip across the water to philly and the "Old-Town" section would be good if you were looking for a nice resturant or bar/club before or after the show(s)

P.S. Again, I'm from Jersey but PJ is probably the only reason that I would even think of visiting Camden for.

To be honest with you, I'm not familiar with any hotels near the venue. My suggestion would be to stay at one of the hotels a few miles outside Camden in Deptford, NJ. It's right up the road to the venue from the hotel.

I'm looking for a place to stay for the Camden shows myself. I like to be somewhat close to the venue but also somewhere clean and safe. Suggestions anyone?

I love the fact that PJ play Camden because they bring legitimate income and opportunity into the neighborhood, but Camden is, I'm sorry to say, a war zone -- those poor people have been victimized by the most outrageous corruption, even by Jersey standards, and the result is rampant crime and generational poverty on a (so-called) third world level.

Try Cherry Hill for someplace to stay -- buses I believe run late, and I know the kids from Camden take the bus regularly to the Cherry Hill Mall, for work as well as for a couple of hours freedom and peace. Check NJ Transit's website to see how the buses run. What's always worked for me after a gig in a dodgy neighborhood is to get out IMMEDIATELY with the rest of the concertgoers, and hold the party for a better place. And if so many PJ fans are roadtripping to Camden, there should be a posse of you, and you should be OK.

so its the governments fault they hang out all day, shoot each other, and destroy thewir own neighborhood?

i think the blame can be a bit more equally distrubuted

You know what, stop right now

every time this band plays this city I have to sit here and listen to you people slam Camden as if they were the only place in the world that had problems

I happen to know a lot of good people from Camden and for you all to sit on your high horses and slam what you don't know is not right

I don't know what everyone is worked up about. Camden is a nice neighborhood. You just need to take in all the beautiful scenery when driving into the pavillion.

I've been to Camden many a time, and I think I'd feel safer in Baghdad. Let's be honest, the government isn't responsible for what's happening there. The government is just a convenient excuse.

very true. Only in Jersey could they not figure out how to have Casinos, on the beach no less, and screw it up. The Borgata is nice though.

dude, stay in philly and take the ferry over, probably the best bet. just make sure you get to the ferry quickly after the show, they tend to shut it off, but im not sure what time. camden is a great place to party, just stick to the parking lot area and youll be fine.
Small my table, seats just 3, its not crowded, its just lucky me

    Camden is slowly improving.

It was America's most dangerous city in 2004 and 2005. But it was only 4th most dangerous in 2006 and 5th in 2007. At this rate, by 2012, it should be out of the top 10. ;)
