Would you prefer not having to work?

I have noticed that many of you have jobs, and that many of you come to the Pit while at work (me too by the way!), so I was wondering: do you like your job? Or you would prefer not having to work?

I would rather not work if I had money, instead I would like to do something else not related with any kind of work activity, surely travel around, see PJ and that sort of thing, maybe more volunteer activities, some personal projects if I had some spare money to invest in crazy ideas, like bringing PJ back to South America!! No work for me though, and I would definitely not work with a boss never again!!

But, what about you? Please, feel free to elaborate.

  • I do work, as a nanny and I love my job. However if I had unlimited money and work was no option, I'd spend my time at an animal shelter trying to adopt out animals. I absolutely adore animals and it breaks my heart how many are stuck in shelters and put down.

I asked Santa for a kitten from a shelter for Xmas this year.. But Santa us skeptical. I already have 3 rescuded kitties!

i would love not to work...or at least not have to worry about money.....:)
  • I would want to work but I would want to *exactly* what I want to do, and I would probably work for myself.

if i was loaded and in a position to not have to work ever again, i would probably get a part time job... just to meet new people.

I would like not to work. I don't think it's good to drive everyday for an hour to get to my desk. I would like to be a stay at home Mom.

I worked for 18 years and now I don't work.

Perhaps if I was a millionairess it wouldn't be so boring but I gotta say not working can be mind numingly boring.

Having said that, work, if you're not doing what you love, can shit you to tears.

I think as soon as I can manage it I'll be looking for SOMETHING to occupy my days or at least part of them. I really don't know how others can stand it, even with more money, it would still be boring I reckon. Bear in mind that just because you're not working, everyone else still is. So unless you are rich enough to buy yourself some company or you drag your arse off to endless short courses most of the people, your peers, they're at work.
    NOPE!!!

that is great, I don't consider that working but doing something that you love right? like doing a personal project or something, yes?

this is the most pointless thread since PJfan01 started a thread called "who here is a PJ fan"

everyone is gonna say they would prefer NOT to work.. if they say otherwise they are a liar... or a pornstar.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    I agree.

Only problem is, my partner works week days, so that means I will have to work all weekend, which will suck.

    Non stop work.

It would be nice if you could pick and choose when you work.

If I was wealthy there is no way in hell I would wake up every morning just to go to work. I would travel and concentrate on my art.

Maybe is just and excuse to do a little collective catharsis and get yet another chance to say: I HATE TO WORK!!! Not my work but the concept of working itself!!

Ah!! I allready feel better! ;)

i work with a guy who said if he won the Lottery he'd still come to work for the company...

I actually suggested he should get a hobby and he took umbrage to that?!?!? :D

people who get bored have no hobbies.. its on http://www.dunkfacts.com

if i was in a position not to work... i'd spend more fucking time watching my kids grow up for one thing.. 2ndly i'd spend a shitload more time playing guitar, watching football, travelling, mountain biking, walking in the mountains... fuck sake.. i'd have so little time to spare that i wouldnt want to spend it talking to some dullard about the chinese booming economy or the weather... i dont give a fuck about those subjects... i wanna talk about music and Rome.

  • i love my job, and feel grateful i do. but yeah it'd be nice not to have to worry about money. i wouldn't be bored if i didn't have to work, that's for sure. if money wasn't an issue i'd love to travel, create art, take classes, do volunteer work. anything i do in my offtime, but just do it all the time really!

I definitely need to work, but maybe 5 or 6 hours a day would be better. Maybe more if its something I really love to do.

Yeah there's no way I'd still come to work if I won Tattslotto! :D
Well not unless it was my dream job. :) In which case I'd be doing it for the love of it anyway. Which I do now when I can for no bloody money at all! :D

I can't open the link dunk so can't see all the wordly wisdom! ;)

But yeah, I probably need to find more things to do, probably not all that stuff you'd do, but more stuff.

I'm just saying that I had all those plans and ideas about what I would do if I didn't have to work or I wasn't working and it doesn't really pan out the way you think it would. Case in point retirees! :D

Not so. I know people that are loaded (many millions) but still make it in to the office pretty much every day to conduct business and stay active. For some their jobs are their life, it's just who they are.

Just a couple I do some work for. For example the guy donated 13 million of his art collection one year to a local museum. I'm guessing they have hundreds of millions but are not billionaires.

i loathe those people... you'd think it was cool jobs like film director and stuff.. but the guy i used to work with owns his own printing company and he said if he won $10million he'd invest it in the company.. when he asked what i'd do i replied "get the fuck out of here"... thankfully he laughed :o

and its mostly guys like that... accountants, estate agents, paper clip salesmen... they would all still work  fucking weirdos

i've always gone by the edict of work to live... not the other way round.. i just can't comprehend it
