There should be a sports section on here!

:) Sport bores the living Christ out of me.

It's the same as 'hot men/women' threads probably bore others.
I think there should be a seperate forum for sport entirely. :) (Despite what Jeff says, I don't think you can compare music and sport. It needs a thread of its own). :)

They do seem to cram quite a bit into this one forum (movies, tv shows, sports, books, travel, etc.) There's also a couple of useless forums, like 'touchbase'. Sports could definitely use it's own forum, it's pretty broad and there are lots of sports fans on here.

edit: I just noticed that right now there are 8 threads about sports on the main page alone. Definitely could handle having it's own forum.

well, with conference tournaments, and the big dance getting ready to start, I'd suggest taking a break from the AET until April.

only problem i have is that there are far too many hockey threads. :p
i see posts here saying it's a popular sports. i don't know; it was on strike a couple of seasons ago after losing so much money in revenues and ratings.

the canadians say the same thing about us when it comes to football. I can overlook the hockey threads if they can overlook the football ones.

It's fine how it is and I too am baffled by all the hockey love on here. I seriously don't know anyone in real life who gives two shits about that sport. Also, very rarely do I ever hear it mentioned on sports radio and I hear the ratings are plain embarrasing..To each their own though..

the irony is in the calling them 'sports'

    baseball is shit
    hockey is shit
    us football is ok
basketball is shit to watch but fun to play
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • I always wondered why sports threads don't have to adhere to 'the rules'. I mean it doesn't seem to matter how many OBVIOUSLY duplicate threads there are when it comes to sports. I think us Europeans have done better sticking to the rules when it comes to that... there's one six nations thread, one 'soccer' thread... and only very rarely do other threads pop up for the same topics. But when it comes to American sports it's ridiculous... it's like 'will the eagles buy xxxx?' and 'if the eagles don't buy xxxx who will?' and 'do you think xxxx will even GO to the eagles?' blah blah blah... the duplicity pisses me off when it comes to American sports... you generally have to scroll through about ten or twenty threads on the ONE topic

  • Yeah, sport bores me but I guess what I was really saying is as it's such a big interest to some, I thought it might be a good idea to have a forum of it's own. Then again, it wasn't exactly a complaint, I've just always wondered why this isn't so.

In the States, perhaps, but there are a lot Canadians on this board, and they definitely give a shit about hockey.

I always wondered why sports didn't have its own forum, as well. There is an awful lot of sports threads. But, no complaints here.
No time to be void or save up on life. You got to spend it all.

There aren't necessarily duplicate threads, but there are threads for individual teams (e.g., a thread for each of the Leafs, Habs, Rangers, etc.) Sure, that's three hockey threads, but they're independent of each other. Having said that, when you're sifting through threads and you're a non-hockey or non-sports fan, it does seem to take up a lot of "space".

  • than there must be new sections i think ..i would not like that ...

Definitely, but there are also a ton of real hard core Ranger, Islander etc. fans from here as well, which I find odd being that I rarely ever hear anything related to hockey, apart from this forum..

i tried to wrap an entire college conference into one thread and it's worked...however i can't see wrapping the entire NHL into one thread...too much fighting. ;)

Okay, so by the same token you and soulsinging should have your own forum as well being that every thread you two participate in (which is just about all) ends up identical and usually not topic related. Talk about 'rules' and 'OBVIOUSLY duplicate'..not to mention 'Us Europeans have done better sticking to the rules.' 'ridiculous'...Oh the hilarity..;)..

in fairness, it's hardly my fault he comes out with such shit :p and here YOU are doing the derailing trying to get off topic from 'should there be a seperate sports forum' :p
