I think to myself often about this.
I ask around the same price as a
bookstore does or an online.com does.
I myself don't get them for free.
My 2 author copies were free, that's it.
Anymore cost me.

All I'll say is if you trust your talent, you shouldn't have to pay for your publishing at all. Be careful of vanity publishing companies ripping you off. They don't want to help you pay your bills, they want to give you bills. A good agent or legit publisher will want you to be a success.
Please, that's not to say you haven't done a good thing - hell you've been published before I have, so what do I know, right?'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. I never paid a dime to have my stuff published.
Yes, I do not get cases upon cases of free books to throw around, No.
I do get a decent discount, that's it.
I am new and basiclly a nobody.
A bookstore manager once told me she
wouldn't put my book on her shelves because
I am competing with Harry Potter.
Some bookstores are very helpful.
Like the one in my hometown.
When you get your book together and all fired up.
You'll find yourself like a grain of sand amongst a sandcastle.
haha. (my best shot at saying it's a real bitch to get noticed, but its beautiful to you and hopefully others think so too)for poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

We should start a literary group... We should have some 'theory' or 'school of thought'. We could invite other 'needle in a haystack' writers to join us.

A lady who works at the bank where I do my banking got a copy of my book today.
It is a gift for her husband.
She told me she was going to order it and she'd bring it to work for me to sign it.
I told her I have some copies of it @ my house.
I hauled ass home, grabbed a copy, handed it to her, she handed me some money.
I said I am grateful and thank you very much.
Said good-bye, walk out the door as the doors were being locked behind me.
Today I am thrilled, I personally have gotten rid of 6 copies of my book.for poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

chadwick wrote:So yea, I am quite electrical these days.
As some of you already know, I write poetry.
A few days ago my 2 author copies were delivered here to the house.
Wow, is it ever way cool to be holding/reading my own book I wrote.
Anyhow, check it out if you like.
My aunt emailed my mom today saying she was able to order it from her local book stores computer.
It is true, I went and found it, it is ready.
It is time to rock.

I don't know how I missed this thread. Just ordered your book from our local Village Books."I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." "The in between is mine." "If I don't lose control, explore and not explode, a preternatural other plane with the power to maintain." "Yeh this is living." "Life is what you make it."0
