I like that the biggest race is at the begining of the season. Don't have to watch the rest of the year.

Born and raised in the South....I also hate NASCAR...it's really about getting drunk and hoping for a big wreck.

that might be entertainment, but i don't really agree that its a sport, like many people tend to think.

It's on in my living room against my will. Ugh...
  • Racing enthusiasts will say different. They talk about how complex the point system is, how much the drivers exert themselves, and how it's the hardest, most dangerous "sport" out there.

Me? I fucking hate it. My 16 year old cousin can drive a fucking car, and that's what worries me.

Anyway, only one thing can fix this game, and the answer is to start half of the cars facing one way, and half the other, the last car standing at the end wins.

    I don't consider it a sport either.......just imagine having to live within 45 minutes of a super-speedway with two races a year......ugh....:(

I prefer open wheel, i.e. Indy Cars. Better drivers. In NASCAR you can go 200 mph and hit someone and STILL not crash, whereas in INDY you go 225, and come within 1 inch of your life....you dont "rub" in Indy, as it means your car would go flying.

NASCAR, where the guy in 30th place on the last lap can win.....terrible....

But for those who have only seen it on TV, go to a LIVE race first, and see if you think any differently about racing. Its by far the worst TV sport, but a MUCH BETTER sport to watch live.

    But yeah, I hate NASCAR.

Traditionally, it's much more of an east coast thing.

I used to watch a lot of NASCAR, but it just seems different now. They've made it too much like a circus and all the good, traditional drivers are gone.

i should have been more specific and said that is not very popular in the tri-state area, rather than the whole east coast. i forgot about the southern states.

What tri-state area? Is there only one?

I'm not defending NASCAR, because I do not really watch it anymore, but there is a lot more action in the typical race than there is in a typical baseball or football game if you think about it. It's kind of inaccurate to describe it as a bunch of cars going in circles.

I could describe football by saying it's 3 seconds of action followed by 25 seconds of telling the players what they're supposed to do for the next 3 seconds of action.

    The Southeast
    not the Northeast
I allow if it interesting that the West coast enjoys more of individual outdoor sports than the East.

    Tri-state is known for NY/NJ/PA
    Northeast = "Tri-state + New England"

The Northeast has more of a NASCAR and racing tradition than the midwest does.

Yeah - there are several tri-state areas out there. Some people need to get out more.

Everywhere that 3 states come together is referred to as a tri-state area by local media.

    Ohio, KY, Indiana
    Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina
    Minnsota, North Dakota, South Dakota
    Etc.
