Honestly I think with orlando and keira gone and just Johnny and Geoffry Rush it should make for a much better film already.

true. everybody else seemed like dead weight on the screen. maybe it'll be a prequel sort of deal, that could be interesting

Jack Nickelson got I think aroud 60 mil after the 1st Batman movie was done based on how much a percentage of much the movie made in profits.

now that i think about it, the latest 2 movies i wanted to walk out on both had johnny (this one and once upon a time in mexico). when he does good, it's incredible...but when he picks a stinker, yikes lol

i'm more excited about the alice in wonderland flick being worked on, with burton directing and johnny as the mad hatter :)

    that's alot of dough.

i don't know if the rumors are true about him playing the riddler in the new batman movie, but if they are... i am sure he can match that.
  • Mel got a ton of dough for Passion and I think Willis got a ton for 6th Sense due to backpoints, but this is crazzy.

It doesn't matter whether it's a good movie or not. Millions of people will pay LOTS of money just to see Johnny Depp as Captian Jack once again. The movie itself is trivial.

Yep! I think he was paid a small amount for the film but demanded a percentage of the profits and the merchandising. Smart!!!!

oh I know it will make a lot of money regardless. I just feel that if he's going to accept that much money up front, he should really make sure that it's going to be as good as it can possibly be. don't start filming it until the script is perfect, etc.. he has the power to make sure it doesn't turn out like the 3rd one.

Are you trying to tell me the first two were better? They were all shitty movies with no script, but fun to watch. I thought the first one was the funniest and I really liked the atmosphere of the third one..

The first one was great, the 2nd and 3rd were a complete waste of movie-time.

i wouldn't exactly say its great (#1), its a lot of fun. they are all carried by strong acting, actually I think what sunk the 2nd and 3rd one was that they filmed together so they had to rush to meet self imposed deadlines with the special effects which made them focus less on more important things. I love the action sequences in all of them, i love the feel of the third one and the silliness/campiness of the second.

You'd think 60 million would be a nice round number. Don't know how they got to 61 million. Depp probably had his agent playing hardball to get one of our finest actors to take a payday to reprise a role in a very dull franchise like Pirates.
